Enjoy free-flowing natural hot spring Onsen and trick art at the foot of Mount Akita-Komagatake

At the foot of Mt. Akita-Komagatake, Tazawako Kogen is surrounded by crisp, clear air. Our Hotel is located just before you enter Nyuto Onsenkyo, along the single road that climbs from Lake Tazawa toward Mt. Akita-Komagatake. Enjoy 100% natural Onsen hot spring water flowing directly from the source in our rustic open-air bath and large public bath. Inside the Hotel, we feature the Tazawako area’s first attraction: “One of the largest in any Hotel! Trick Art Street!!” showcasing trick art inspired by Akita Prefecture. *Day-use bathing is suspended until further notice.*

  • The bath is quite far from the single Room, and the washing-area stools are low, making it hard to stand up. I would appreciate it if there were a few higher chairs available. The hot water is exceptionally good.Even though I thought it would be fine, I couldn’t relax in the 1st-floor open-air bath because I was worried about what I would do if a bear appeared.

  • The meals featured local specialties, and we enjoyed them—they were unique and delicious. At check-in, there were few front desk staff, so we had to wait quite a while. If it was going to take time, it would have felt more considerate to be guided to wait on the sofa or offered something like a drink service voucher.

Trick Art at Hotel Wonderland

Look closely—there may be hidden details, and even “spot-the-difference” style art! ■ A Shortcut Along Lake Tazawa Beyond an imaginary passage painted on the wall, a view of Lake Tazawa opens up. Take a commemorative photo with an Akita dog! ■ Cherry Blossoms and Samurai Residences Kakunodate’s samurai residences surrounded by cherry blossoms in full bloom. An Akita dog basking in the spring sunshine looks adorable! ■ Hidden Pictures in Autumnal Mt. Komagatake Animals are hidden within the vividly autumn-colored Mt. Akita-Komagatake! Can you find them? Trick-art / Beautiful scenic paintings of Akita are displayed along a corridor of about 100 meters! ■ Artworks are displayed in the corridor connecting the Main Building to the West Building! ■ Fireworks and Kamakura Snow Huts Gentle light from kamakura snow huts set against fireworks lighting up the winter night sky. ■ Decorative Shelves Along the Slope Art on decorative shelves featuring scenes reflected in frosted glass, with illustrations such as Akita Kanto Festival dolls and Nakayama dolls (Osugi Warabe).

Large Public Bath

Soak in a natural Onsen at Tazawako Highlands, surrounded by crisp, clear air.

Tazawako Plateau is surrounded by crisp, clear air. The open-air bath, wrapped in beautiful seasonal colors, and the large public bath feature spring water rich in metasilicic acid, a natural moisturizing component. Enjoy our Onsen with three beauty benefits: bicarbonate to remove skin impurities and old keratin, sulfur to promote circulation and boost metabolism from within, and metasilicic acid for moisturized skin.

Restaurant

The restaurant has been renovated.

A new dining venue will open on December 28, 2024. We will offer a buffet featuring our Hotel’s original dishes and traditional cuisine, incorporating local Akita ingredients and fermented foods.

Sample Meal Options

Savor

We offer a buffet featuring dishes made with an abundance of local ingredients, including Akita specialties such as Kiritanpo hot pot and Inaniwa udon, as well as Hinai-jidori—one of Japan’s three most renowned native chicken breeds. At the dinner live kitchen, we especially recommend our freshly grilled beef steak!

Open-air bath

Relaxation

The lush natural surroundings at the foot of Mt. Komagatake—beech forests, wild birds, and the rustling wind through the trees—are a one-of-a-kind treasure that opens the door to an extraordinary escape.

Our Hotel’s hot spring source is known as the “Triple Beauty Bath”: - “Sulfur” helps improve circulation and boosts metabolism from within. - “Sulfate” keeps skin moisturized and hydrated. - “Bicarbonate” helps remove impurities and old dead skin cells. This spring water offers three beauty-enhancing benefits. It is also rich in the natural moisturizing component “metasilicic acid,” which promotes skin turnover and supports ceramide balance. It contains an exceptionally high amount of 278.7 mg per 1 kg, for even greater skincare benefits.
