Tokiwokazaderu Yado Wakaba Ryokan
Yamagata Prefecture/Sakata, Tsuruoka, Dewa SanzanA hub for tourism and business that conveys the prosperity of the Edo period to the present day.
Minato-machi Sakata flourished as a hub for Kitamaebune trade during the Edo period, and its prosperity was once praised as "Sakai in the west, Sakata in the east." Traces of this history remain throughout the town, where a rich natural backdrop breathes life into its unique history and culture. Our facility is located in the heart of the city, offering convenient access to sightseeing spots such as the Sankyo Warehouses right in front, the former residence of the wealthy Homma family, the Abumiya shipping merchant house, and the Sanno Club. Additionally, the nearby bustling district allows you to enjoy the delicacies of Shonai's sea and mountains, as well as sake made with renowned local spring water, making it an excellent choice for both tourism and business.
After visiting Mt. Yudono, I wanted to go to Sakata City, so I stayed here.I usually stay at a Hotel when traveling, but this time I chose Wakaba Ryokan. It was absolutely the right choice. The Room is small, but the futon was fluffy and very comfortable. The herbal bath available 24 hours a day was wonderful and soothed my tired body. The water from Mt. Chokai after the bath was delicious—I ended up drinking several cups. And breakfast was also excellent! It was generous in portion size, tasted homemade, and left me completely satisfied.I would like to stay here again when I visit Sakata. Thank you very much.
Yahoo!トラベルユー... 7/8/2026When I return home to Shonai and have a night out drinking in Sakata, I often stay here. It’s close to Nakamachi, Sakata’s downtown area, right next to City Hall, and the Sannokura Warehouses are within walking distance. The location is extremely convenient and always comes in handy. There’s also a large public bath, so you can enjoy an Onsen-like atmosphere. I’ve heard great things about the food as well, but since I usually stay here just for nights out drinking, I still haven’t had the chance to try it. That’s the one dilemma (haha).
