About a 20-minute walk from our facility, there is Sunpu Castle Park, surrounded by double moats and beautiful stone walls. Sunpu Castle was built by Tokugawa Ieyasu in 1585 (Tensho 13) and served as his residence during his later years as a retired shogun. Currently, the East Gate, Tatsumi Turret, and Kon Turret have been restored. Within the park, there is a bronze statue of Ieyasu and the "Momijiyama Garden," which features four Japanese-style gardens and a tea house.
