  • I stayed with a friend. The meals were delicious, and the Room was clean, so we had a very comfortable stay. However, the sink was in the same space as the toilet, which made it inconvenient to use.Since it has been renovated, I assume there wasn’t enough space and it couldn’t be helped. The Onsen was excellent, but because of the older design, it felt unsafe unless you held onto the handrail and watched your step carefully.Overall, considering the price as well, it was excellent.

  • I was really looking forward to my first visit to Zao Onsen.Including the bath-hopping, I think I soaked about five times. The water is pleasantly lukewarm, so you can stay in for a long time. I’d heard it’s good for the skin, and since mine is sensitive, I was hoping it would help. The meals felt truly homemade—especially the burdock root, which was delicious. Of course, the other ingredients also had a wonderful local touch, and everything was very enjoyable. Some of the staff were from overseas. Somehow, I felt the Japanese staff came across as a bit less warm.It wasn’t ski season, so the town felt quiet—but please welcome guests with enough energy to brighten that up.We travelers had been looking forward to this day so much.
