Nikko Station Hotel Classic

The location right in front of the station was very convenient, and it was also helpful for storing our luggage. Although it was listed as a Room with some issues, we did not notice any odor, and it was spacious and comfortable. The staff were pleasant and made our stay enjoyable. Thank you very much.

During the Silver Week holidays in September, I was able to stay at a great price in a non-smoking “assigned upon arrival (special conditions)” Room. It was easy to find right near the station, and there were convenience stores within walking distance, which was very convenient. At check-in, they explained what “special conditions” meant: “This used to be a smoking-permitted Room, so you may notice an odor. If needed, please use the deodorizing spray.” There was a slight smell, but after using the spray lightly just in case, it didn’t bother me much. The building had a wonderful atmosphere—stately and calm from the entrance onward—with a sense of history.What I liked: - There was a drink server in the lounge available until 10:00. They also had Nikko rusks, which were delicious. Drinks included coffee, matcha latte, cocoa, etc. There were also juices in a clear refrigerator. Alcohol such as yuzu chu-hi was available as well. - The Room had a double bed and was quite spacious; the bathroom was also slightly larger than average. I stayed alone and it was extremely comfortable. There was also lighting by the pillow that helped when reading at night. Two paintings were displayed, which made it feel very luxurious. - Both the open-air bath and indoor bath were quite large, and since it wasn’t very crowded I could relax comfortably. The water temperature was slightly on the lukewarm side. - The breakfast buffet was outstanding above all else. While there weren’t an overwhelming number of items, everything was high quality. Staff freshly cooked French toast and served it hot; they made announcements so you knew when it was ready, which I appreciated. In addition to scrambled eggs there was also Spanish omelet—fluffy and delicious. Other options included salad; several kinds of bread; Tochigi rice; yuba (tofu skin); soba noodles; onion soup; etc., and my son said the curry tasted great too. I’d love to come back just for this meal.Many guests were calm couples, so it stayed quiet everywhere throughout our stay.Points for improvement: - At check-in/check-out, the staff who assisted us felt a bit businesslike; however their explanations were polite and clear overall. - As mentioned above, since the bath temperature is slightly lukewarm, I think it would be nice if at least during winter they reduced adding water in order to make the indoor bath hotter.Overall, because the breakfast buffet is so delicious, I would like to stay again.
