Villa Fontaine Grand Osaka Umeda

My spouse and I stayed for one night.The Room was compact, but it had everything we needed and was clean and well maintained.Two complimentary bottles of water were provided.Above all, the spa was excellent. The hot stone sauna was a bit on the hotter side, but we worked up a great sweat.We will stay here again when we visit Osaka.

I hadn’t been to the east side of Hankyu much before, but using Google Maps made it surprisingly easy to get here. There were only two self-service front desk kiosks, so I expected it to be crowded, but check-in was smoother than I thought. Check-out was also very quick and easy, which was great. Staff were nearby and kindly spoke up right away if anyone seemed confused.The room was smaller than the hotels I usually stay at, but since my time in Osaka was about 18 hours and my time at the hotel about 10 hours—just enough to sleep—it felt perfectly fine. The bottles in the shower booth were large and in original hotel containers, with clear labeling in English and katakana. The strong color contrast made them easy to read for older guests (I’m 66), which I really appreciated. Even at expensive hotels, amenities are often hard to read due to small text or poor contrast, or they’re labeled only in English.After midnight I went to the spa; you enter by inserting your card, and then use your shoe-locker key for further check-in and management—I thought that system was impressive. A young female staff member was also there and helped immediately when needed, which I appreciated. Both the spa and stone sauna were clean, relaxing, and wonderful.The in-room amenities were also well prepared: a proper coffee pot was provided, and even a phone charging cable was available (I did wonder if people might take it home). Overall, I found it very impressive.The area around the hotel is near Ohatsu Tenjin Shopping Street with many slightly “deep” local spots as well—I’d like to come back again next time for more exploring.
