    Who will use it, and for what purpose?

    This feels like the ultimate example of rationality and profit-first thinking—the Marriott Group. Are the people in their planning and management department just calculators? For a resort, hospitality, service, and any sense of “playfulness” should be top priorities, yet there was none. The building is very beautiful, but it feels cold and soulless. Why did I travel all the way from Kyoto City to Susami Town in Wakayama Prefecture? Because Susami has an incredible sea. They bought what should be the best coastal location—and then completely blocked access to the small beach right in front of it and to the beautiful ocean with iron fences from end to end. They also said that if guests answered a survey they would receive a souvenir (one bottle of juice). The survey asked you to rate every staff member by checking boxes next to a list of their last names. I felt sorry for the staff who are trying their best. Who are these people—what country are they from—that they treat one of Japan’s scenic treasures so poorly and treat employees like “slaves”? Anti-Marriott.

    Everything was excellent.

    As there are very few clean Hotels in Nanki, I truly appreciate Fairfield for providing a stay where I didn’t notice any dust or dirt. I hope you will continue to do so for many years to come.

    There is a high possibility of facing difficulty finding meals.

    I arrived at the Hotel before 6 PM, but the parking lot was almost full. Guests checking in after 8 PM were directed to park at a roadside station on a hill, which is more than a 5-minute walk away. At night, there are no streetlights on the way back to the Hotel from there, so you will need to use your smartphone light to illuminate your path. Check-in took about 30 minutes. The few restaurants recommended after check-in were small and very crowded, with over an hour's wait being inevitable. It might be better to drive over 30 minutes to places like Kushimoto for dining options. In case of a tsunami warning, guests are advised to evacuate to the roadside station on the hill; however, at night, it is pitch dark with no streetlights and involves walking uphill for more than five minutes—raising safety concerns. The dining situation may improve if food trucks or additional restaurants open nearby in the future. Please note that there is no convenience store within walking distance either.

    I’d love to stay here again!

    The Hotel is barrier-free and very well cleaned, so we had a comfortable stay! I thought there would be takeout at the roadside station, but it is currently not available, so we bought Wakayama ramen at the Hotel shop and sushi and tuna sashimi at the adjacent roadside station. Free coffee, tea, and miso soup were also provided, so we were able to eat in the lounge, which was great. The Onsen directly connected to the basement was also wonderful! When you stay overnight, bath towels are lent for free. The Amaou soft-serve was delicious, and it seems all three craft beers were also very good. Not only the Hotel staff but also the Onsen staff were very kind, and even as a wheelchair user I was able to spend my time comfortably. I gave 4 stars because there are hardly any places to eat nearby and the last admission for the Onsen is early at 8:30 PM, which was a bit disappointing—but if it stayed open a little later, I would definitely give full marks! Thank you very much for your hospitality.

    This was my first time using this service.

    I always use Marriott Hotels both domestically and internationally, but this was my first time staying for a room-only plan in a local area. The staff's service was excellent, and they even carried my luggage to the room—truly what you'd expect from Marriott. I also used the lounge, which was available 24 hours and very comfortable. I didn't expect that an Onsen would be available as well, so I had a very relaxing stay. I will definitely use it again.
