Tsuruga has long flourished as a port of call for Kitamaebune trading ships, and was one of the ports where kelp harvested as far away as Hokkaido was unloaded. During the Edo period, skilled craftsmen processed it and shipped it to the Kansai region as a “Tsuruga specialty.” We have prepared an assorted set of Tsuruga’s specialty “kelp,” made using techniques passed down to this day, as a souvenir for you.
