new tradition hotel kanazawa

A private, whole-townhouse machiya in the heart of Higashi Chaya District—immerse yourself in traditional crafts and the tea ceremony.

New Tradition Hotel Kanazawa is a private, one-group-per-day art Hotel created by restoring a century-old machiya townhouse with contemporary design, quietly located in the heart of Kanazawa’s Higashi Chaya District. Its concept is “Tradition, Renewed.” Using local materials such as Noto washi paper, the space reinterprets Japanese architecture in a modern way and features works by two next-generation craftspeople with roots in Ishikawa—offering a stay you can experience only here. At this Accommodation, you can enjoy a tea ceremony moment by whisking matcha yourself in your room. Boiling water, preparing the tea, and savoring the lingering finish transforms Kanazawa culture from something you simply “see” into something you truly “experience.” Perfectly located for exploring on foot, yet once inside the door you’ll find the quiet depth unique to a machiya townhouse—ideal for a private stay for up to five guests.
