Omuro, with Lake Ippeki to the north and the Jogasaki Coast to the east. Blessed with a location that offers both the sea nearby and the quiet of the forest, it’s also easily accessible—about a 7-minute drive from Izu-Kogen Station. Surrounded by lush trees, this single-story home with Japanese character was designed in 2004 by an architect couple as their own residence. The generous open-plan space—combining living/dining and sleeping areas—looks out onto uninterrupted greenery. The architecture and furniture, carefully passed down over time, remain as they were, and architectural magazines kept in this house are also displayed. Whether soaking in the wooden bath while gazing at garden trees in the morning, or spending an evening with an architecture magazine reflecting on the designers’ journey, here nature, architecture, and everyday living quietly come together. How you spend your time is entirely up to you. Enjoy Izu’s nature at your own pace.
