A quiet second home in the forest, living in harmony with nature
SANU 2nd Home is "another home" where your mind and body can relax, and your senses awaken. Step away from the hustle and bustle of city life to experience a second home where you can connect with nature through all five senses and live life with your own hands. Among the various SANU 2nd Home locations, South Alps 1st is perfect for those seeking a quiet retreat away from urban noise. Surrounded by majestic mountains, you can immerse yourself in thought or reading, or enjoy active pursuits like hiking at Tennyo Mountain or Ojiragawa Gorge. This independent architectural design seamlessly connects living spaces with nature through an integrated living room and balcony. The cabin reflects care for the mossy forest's flora and fauna, embodying love for our planet. With features like an open workspace, a sociable kitchen-dining area, skylights that let in natural light, and windows offering views of nature from anywhere in the Room, this second home extends daily comfort into a harmonious lifestyle with nature. In the morning, quietly grind coffee beans on the terrace as sunlight filters through the trees. At noon, play seasonal music playlists and let yourself be carried by sound. In the evening, toast with natural wine while listening to insects' songs. At night, add firewood to a campfire as you delve into deep thoughts. The possibilities are endless. Find your perfect way to spend time here!
I stayed for two nights in a cabin with a sauna in mid-April. Although it was closer to town than I expected, the location truly let me experience the “Live with nature” concept.Since I usually live near the sea, being surrounded by mountains felt refreshing. The air was so clear, and I had a wonderfully comfortable stay. The Room—its floors and furniture—was mostly made of wood, creating a soothing space that felt great on bare skin and made me want to spend the whole day there without even going outside. I also enjoyed both the sauna and the campfire at a relaxed pace.At the same time, if you drive out, there are plenty of charming cafes and restaurants nearby, making it perfect for a food-focused trip as well. The email sent before check-in included detailed information about the base’s Facility and amenities, as well as tips about the surrounding area, which helped me plan my trip. Even without staff on-site, I felt warm hospitality. One delightful surprise was being greeted by monkeys when I stepped outside in the morning—it made nature feel even closer. If you want to enjoy both slow time here and sightseeing around the area, I strongly recommend staying at least two nights! Next time, I’d love to stay at another SANU location too.
ゲスト 5/4/2026This was the first time I’ve ever felt so truly “reset” in nature.I woke up to birdsong, and having coffee on the deck in the morning was incredibly relaxing. It had been a long time since I’d felt that doing nothing could be such a luxury. Both the sauna and the campfire were amazing, and spending the evening slowly watching the flames was deeply soothing. Then in the morning, I saw a family of monkeys eating nuts right in front of my Room—such an adorable sight that really stayed with me.I strongly felt like I was living alongside nature, and it truly seemed like an experience unique to this place. This stay was so wonderful that it made me want to try other SANU locations as well.I’d love to visit again in a different season.
