A Property that brings joy to both people and the Earth, accommodating only one group per day. Located in the Hojo area at the foot of Mount Tsukuba, about a 20-minute drive from the center of Tsukuba City. This traditional wooden house, built 90 years ago, has been renovated using natural materials and opened in July 2024 with the theme of being a Property that is kind to both the body and mind, bringing joy to people and the Earth. To provide a refreshing stay, we carefully selected premium cedar planks from Ibaraki and Tokushima Prefectures and used them throughout the building. With high humidity control, the Property maintains a humidity level of 60-74% year-round. This stable humidity prevents the activation of viruses, reducing the likelihood of skin inflammation and allergies. Additionally, the relaxing effects of the cedar scent component "cedrol" help alleviate stress and promote better sleep. From building materials and paints to the fabrics of sleepwear, every detail has been designed with a focus on natural elements and quality sleep. Natural materials are used not only in the Room but also in the bath, hallways, and even in areas unseen by guests, encompassing the entire building. In other words, wherever you are within the Property, you are surrounded and embraced by natural materials. Be soothed by the air, rest assured, and fall into a deep sleep. "Ah, I slept so well." May you wake up to such a wonderful morning and have the best day ahead.

A building that reflects the era

We have decided not to give this building a new name but to return to its original "yagō" (house name) that has been passed down since the Edo period. Using timber from the satoyama, walls made of earth and plaster, ceilings and walls thatched with local grasses, and interiors adorned with persimmon tannin, red ochre, and tung oil, we sought to converse with this historic home that has stood here for generations. What we heard was a layered memory—a desire to return to its origins. Feel the history and culture embedded in the beams and fittings of the building, and immerse yourself in a space that preserves its structure. Experience the history and stories this building has carried through time.

Originally, Aishou was not a historically luxurious traditional house, but rather a typical old Japanese home. Precisely because of this, it serves as a house of craftsmanship, freely proposing traditional techniques for the modern era. We invite you to a creative stay experience where the future possibilities of handcrafting come to life.
