ー By Car ー
It takes approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes by car from Tokyo (Nerima Interchange) to Kita-Karuizawa.
For those coming from the Tokyo area, the typical route is to exit the Joshinetsu Expressway at "Usui-Karuizawa IC" and pass through Karuizawa Town.

One of the attractions of Kita-Karuizawa is that you can avoid the traffic and congestion of Karuizawa. During major holidays, exiting at Usui-Karuizawa Interchange can lead to massive traffic jams where walking might be faster. The usual 15-minute drive from Usui-Karuizawa to Karuizawa Station can take over 3 hours. Below are recommended routes, but please check road conditions in advance:

1. Head north on the Kan-Etsu Expressway, exit at Shibukawa-Ikaho Interchange, and head south via the Jobu Road and Yamba Bypass.
2. Head north on the Kan-Etsu Expressway, exit at Takasaki Interchange, and take Route 406 through the Nidoage Pass (a mountain road) to avoid traffic.

ー By Train ー
The nearest stations are "Karuizawa" on the Nagano side and "Naganohara-Kusatsuguchi" on the Gunma side.

From Tokyo: JR Joetsu Shinkansen to Karuizawa Station (approx. 1 hour 10 minutes)
From Karuizawa Station: Transfer to Naka-Karuizawa Station (4 minutes)
Naka-Karuizawa Station is the nearest station to Harunire Terrace. After enjoying Harunire Terrace and Tombo-no-Yu, taking a taxi (30 minutes) or bus (40 minutes) is recommended. It is about a 15-minute walk from the "Kita-Karuizawa Tourist Association" bus stop.

From either station, you can use the "Kusakaru Kotsu" route bus, or rent a car or take a taxi.

ー By Bus ー
For those coming from the Tokyo area, the express bus from Shibuya Station (in front of Mark City) to "Kita-Karuizawa" is recommended. The journey takes 3 hours and 40 minutes and costs 3,500 yen. It is about a 15-minute walk from the "Kita-Karuizawa Tourist Association" bus stop.

During the on-season, taxis are available at the "Kita-Karuizawa Tourist Association" bus stop, but the number is limited. Advance Reservation is recommended: Kusatsu Kanko Taxi TEL 0120-37-2450
