Facing east, the house welcomes brilliant morning light each day, and as the sun rises you’ll wake to birdsong from the hill behind. The scent of wind passing through your body The soft rustle of shimmering leaves Watching the flames sway in the sauna, then letting yourself sink into the night beneath a sky full of stars We hope this will be a place where you can remember what you hadn’t noticed before, and what you may have forgotten to feel—restoring a calm, natural rhythm. At ume, we also prepare gentle, nourishing meals using as many locally sourced ingredients as possible with minimal impact on nature. Vegetables vary not only by season but also from day to day. We carefully prepare whatever is most delicious that day. Please experience time that exists only “now” and “here,” through our Rooms, food, and sauna.

  • It was a very satisfying Hotel.

    Getting there was challenging because we had to transfer between the Shinkansen and Kintetsu lines, but it was a Hotel well worth the trip. The menu featured local vegetables, eggs, fish, and meat, and we enjoyed a feast you can only experience here. The sauna was also great. We could truly feel the sincere hospitality of everyone working there, which warmed our hearts. It’s a Hotel we would love to visit again.

  • It was a wonderful day in the mountain village.

    My wife and I stayed here together. The food was outstanding. We especially enjoyed the unique flavors made with locally sourced vegetables, wild mountain plants, free-range chicken, and eggs from Yamazoe Village, as well as products from local tofu and soy sauce makers—something you can only experience here. Many rural mountain communities are facing depopulation, but this stay reminded us that there are so many wonderful things found only in places like this. We arrived a bit late and were disappointed to miss the sauna we had been looking forward to. We would love to visit again.
