An Accommodation limited to six groups per day in a village of 700 people at the source of the Tama River
A limited accommodation for six groups per day, featuring two distinct styles: the 150-year-old residence of a local notable, affectionately called "Ooya" by villagers, and the "Cliff House" with breathtaking mountain views. A fusion of sophisticated designer furniture and traditional architecture, complemented by the local Onsen known as "Bijin no Yu." Enjoy beautifully crafted dishes made with seasonal ingredients from the village and a selection of local sake in an all-inclusive experience. Immerse yourself in village life and discover the source of true richness during your stay.
This was my first stay at NIPPONIA in Kosuge Village—something I’d been hoping to do ever since I learned it was there, after visiting the village several times on touring trips. The space, renovated from a traditional house over 150 years old, is meticulously cared for in every detail and uniquely comfortable. From the entrance gate to the front area—and of course the Room itself—everything was wonderful, and I immediately felt at ease. I relaxed so much that I collapsed into bed early and missed the evening bonfire, which is my only regret (laugh). The thickly smoked beams, thoughtfully designed indirect lighting, a dining table suitable for working, a beautifully maintained garden with spring water running through it, chairs to enjoy the view and a solo hammock, a semi-open-air bath, and a large fluffy bed—everything was perfect. I was also impressed that instead of the cheap alcohol often found with “all-inclusive” plans, they offered genuinely recommended local alcoholic drinks and soft drinks along with small snacks. The staff’s kindness—waiting outside just for us in the heat—meant a lot. Walking around Kosuge was also fun. Everything was soothing.Just one thing: dinner. It was a luxurious course featuring river fish or pork in almost every dish, but there were rich sauces used throughout, which left my mouth and stomach feeling a bit tired. The fact that every dish felt like a main might be great for energetic younger guests; however, if there had been something lighter—like a refreshing salad using delicious local vegetables—to provide some contrast “in between,” each dish might have stood out even more.Overall it was an excellent experience that truly put me at ease. I got real rest here. Thank you very much.
るしふぁ~ 7/29/2026It was excellent. I stayed at the cliffside accommodation, and both the view and the room were very satisfying. The staff were very kind, and I would love to visit again. The food and the onsen made it a wonderful trip that relieved my daily fatigue. Thank you very much.

Introduction of the Accommodation

A village of 700 people has been transformed into a Hotel. Vacant houses serve as guest Rooms, the famous "Kosuge no Yu" hot spring becomes the Hotel's large bath, the roadside station acts as the Hotel's souvenir shop, and roads connecting these spots are imagined as the Hotel's hallways. Enjoy your stay while exploring the entire village. All our staff are villagers. The locals you meet along the way will warmly guide you like concierges. "Ōyado" and "Cliffside House." Experience life as a villager with two unique Room styles for your stay.

"Ōya," a historic residence built in the late Edo period, was once home to a prominent local figure. This hidden retreat for adults features robust beams and pillars that retain the charm of the era, complemented by sophisticated designer furniture. A highlight exclusive to Ōya is the popular activity "Kosuge Stroll," a guided tour led by local villagers who share their deep knowledge of Kosuge, offering guests an opportunity to experience the richness of village life. Other activities include enjoying a bonfire in the courtyard or exploring on electric bicycles, making your stay at Ōya truly memorable. Dinner is served at our on-site restaurant "24SEKKI," where we present unique seasonal dishes crafted exclusively for that moment in time.

A 100-year-old traditional Japanese house perched on the edge of a cliff has been transformed into a private cottage rental. Enjoy breathtaking mountain views from the windows in this exclusive space, perfect for families with young children. At "The Cliff House," you can savor meals prepared with locally sourced vegetables and fish from the village in a self-catering style. Whether you enjoy cooking together as a family or prefer to try our chef's special easy-to-prepare meal kits, we tailor your stay to suit your preferences. Experience an uninterrupted retreat surrounded by stunning seasonal landscapes.

Our accommodation is a decentralized hotel with rooms located throughout the area. Check-in will be conducted at the building where you will be staying, so please ensure you go to the correct location. Please come directly to either "Ooya" or "Cliff House" between 15:00 and 18:00.
