About Chiiori
Located in the heart of Shikoku, the mystical mountainous region of Iya, often referred to as "Japan's Tibet," is home to steep gorges that were once dotted with numerous thatched-roof houses. When these traditional homes were on the verge of disappearing, a dream was born—the dream of Chiiori. It is a dream to preserve the beauty of Japan's countryside and to create an eco-friendly community rooted in traditional culture. Chiiori is dedicated to natural farming, the preservation of old houses and customs, and aims to revitalize the village through unique and progressive initiatives. We sincerely hope that our efforts can serve as a catalyst, inspiring similar activities in other regions.
The property is equipped with an IH kitchen, complete with cooking utensils and basic seasonings (salt, pepper, soy sauce, salad oil, mirin, sugar). Guests can prepare their own ingredients and beverages for self-catering.
For dinner, a catering service offering local cuisine is available upon request. Please make a Reservation in advance if desired.

Utazu Old Town House
At the Old Town House, there are two contrastingly styled townhouses available as property accommodations. The two adjacent houses are "Rinsui," featuring pure Japanese architecture, and "Sezan," with a Western-style design. Staying at the Old Town House differs from a ryokan or hotel, as you rent the entire house. Enjoy a relaxing and exclusive stay as if you were living in the building.
Chiiori Utazu Branch
An exclusive property in a renovated townhouse located in the historic district of Utazu, a town that thrived on maritime trade in the medieval era and salt production in modern times. A café is also integrated within the same building, offering an easy way to engage with the local community.
"Hanare" no Nōmi
"Located in a corner of the old Kameyama castle town established by Mitsuhide Akechi, 'Hanare' Inoumi features a two-story main building connected to a separate annex via a corridor. The two gardens and storehouse in between add elegance and grandeur to this Facility. With exclusive rental (three buildings available), you can forget the daily hustle and enjoy a relaxing stay."
