A small accommodation overlooking the quiet charm of Ryusuke Town in Komatsu City, where craftsmanship and the town's traditional atmosphere quietly thrive.

Ryusuke-cho, Komatsu City, is a town where machishu culture still thrives today. One traditional townhouse in this neighborhood has been reborn as a small Accommodation, preserving the everyday scenery of life in Komatsu. In a space where inherited aesthetics blend with fresh sensibilities, enjoy a relaxing stay.

  • While preserving the traditional machiya atmosphere overall, the Accommodation has been thoughtfully renovated with a focus on key areas such as the bathroom and kitchen—spacious, spotless, and highly practical. It was a comfortable space with an excellent sense of balance. Unlike a typical Hotel stay, it offered an experience that blends into the neighborhood, and I felt as if I were spending my very first day after moving in. There are many lighting fixtures, and being able to fine-tune them to suit different situations was very convenient. The complimentary local drinks—such as roasted green tea and cider—were a delightful touch that added to the travel mood. Everything from the teapot and cups to the tray and even the hair dryer had a refined design that was pleasing to look at. It was a wonderful Room combining quality with functionality.Under normal circumstances this would unquestionably be a 5-star stay, but this time I am rating it 3 stars. The guests upstairs ran around for minutes at night and again the next morning like shuttle runs, even falling loudly at times. It was noise at a level that would feel excessive even in an ordinary Hotel—and all the more so in a machiya-style place like Komado. Even if our floors were reversed and I were staying upstairs, it would still have carried through. It was extremely difficult to endure. I wanted to raise this through staff, but neither the main phone line nor the emergency contact number could be reached around 7:30 p.m.I believe this Accommodation’s core appeal is its high-quality feel that blends seamlessly into everyday life in town, so it was deeply disappointing that such noise is fundamentally incompatible with that experience. That said, if you are not paired with guests like we had this time, it will surely be an outstanding stay without complaint. Being able to look out onto the courtyard was also fantastic; it is illuminated at night and offers scenery different from daytime—I never got tired of it!

  • This Accommodation has been lovingly and carefully renovated, preserving the memories of a traditional machiya townhouse.Rather than simply leaving it old as it is, it also ensures a truly comfortable stay, and you can feel the attention to detail throughout. The way the light comes in is beautiful, and I felt at ease for my entire stay. The staff were stylish and had a wonderful presence, and the coffee they brewed for me was excellent. I also loved the roasted bancha tea in the room; when I heard it was sold nearby, I ended up buying two bags as souvenirs. The area around the Accommodation was also memorable—the preserved hikiyama festival float was even more impressive than I imagined. Next time, I would love to visit during festival season. It was also a delightful discovery to learn that such a town exists just a short trip from Kanazawa.

Introduction of the Accommodation

Pottery

Komatsu is a town where the beauty of everyday life lives on.

Abundant waters flowing from Mt. Hakusan, and the stone and soil nurtured by the land. For generations, this region has sustained a way of life rooted in craftsmanship—polishing stone, forging iron, and firing pottery—passing its creative culture down through time. Kutani ware, the tea ceremony, and machiya townhouses: the skills of artisans and the refined sense of beauty cultivated by local townspeople are not something extraordinary here—they are simply part of everyday life. Walk the narrow lanes that still echo this former castle town, and you’ll find light filtering through wooden lattices, rows of tiled roofs, and a gentle pace of time. These are not scenes staged for sightseeing; they are cherished landscapes that people have protected in their daily lives—and they continue to breathe quietly even now. Komado is a small “window” into that everyday world. Make this your base for a journey into Komatsu’s history and culture, its craftsmanship, and the lives of its people. May your time here lead you to new discoveries in this town.

Stay as you live.\nThree guest rooms steeped in history.

Soft light filters through lattice windows. A streetscape lined with Bengara roof tiles. The quiet atmosphere unique to a traditional townhouse. Once a home for everyday life, this building has been reborn into three guest rooms while preserving its original character. Each room is thoughtfully appointed with touches that reflect local culture—onigawara roof ornaments, Kutani ware, and Komatsu woodworking and crafts. Sit on the tatami and look out the window, and you’ll feel the gentle rhythm of time in this town. Morning light, evening shadows, and the stillness of night. Read a book, brew tea, or share unhurried conversation with someone special. Surrender to the town’s daily pace and spend your time here slowly, in your own way.
