Located in the heart of the Tamba-Sasayama castle town, Chikamata is a culinary Ryokan founded in 1609 with over 400 years of history. Many notable figures have visited throughout the ages, and it remains an Accommodation cherished by guests to this day. For sightseeing, Sasayama Castle Ruins (Oshoin) and the Kawaramachi Tsumairi Merchant Houses are within walking distance. The convenient location also puts you about a 20-minute drive from Imada, home of Tanba ware, and the popular Fukusumi area. In addition, many prestigious golf clubs are scattered within about 40 minutes by car, making us an ideal base for golfers. Our cuisine centers on our signature “Botan Nabe” made with premium loin meat. In spring and summer, we serve seasonal kaiseki featuring nature’s bounty; in autumn, we offer luxurious kaiseki featuring Japanese matsutake as well as locally harvested Sasayama matsutake. We are always particular about ingredients, selecting mainly wild-caught and locally sourced items so you can truly savor nature’s gifts. We offer six Rooms, each with its own distinct style.
