An Accommodation associated with Osamu Dazai, nestled by Yumura’s renowned hot springs with 1,200 years of history
The "Ryokan Meiji" in Yumura Onsen, where Osamu Dazai stayed twice for writing, has been reborn for modern travelers. Experience tranquility and warmth in this space, featuring the renowned hot spring said to have soothed Lord Shingen and newly renovated Western-style rooms. Enjoy the revived communal bath "Washi no Yu" or a relaxing day-use bathing experience.
The staff greeted us with warm smiles as soon as we arrived and kindly helped carry our luggage. From start to finish, everyone’s service was very attentive, and we had a truly pleasant stay. There wasn’t a kettle in the Room, but when we requested one it was delivered right away, and drinks were available free-flow in the lounge. Many places don’t allow lounge drinks to be taken back to your Room, but here they even provided paper cups so you could bring them with you. The Room didn’t have unnecessary amenities; instead, you receive only what you need upon request—modern and a great touch. Both the property and the Room felt very clean and comfortable. We’d love to stay again!
ゲスト 7/24/2026I wanted to relax on my own for a change, found a great Plan, and made a Reservation. All the staff welcomed me with warm smiles and guided me smoothly to my Room. They even told me where to buy delicious peaches, which already made me feel really glad I came. After resting in my Room for a bit, I headed straight to the Onsen. It happened to be quiet at that time, so I ended up soaking for ages. I felt like my skin looked better and it lifted my mood, so after dinner I went back in again. Finding an Onsen I truly love was the best. The ice cream after the bath was also great.Breakfast was a half-buffet featuring mainly fermented foods—and it was delicious! I especially loved the dried daikon radish and hijiki seaweed simmered in tomato; I liked it so much that I want to make it at home. The salmon served first was also plump and tasty, and it felt like such a treat—can breakfast really be this luxurious? Each dish was light and refreshing, so it’s easy to eat too much—in that sense, be careful (lol).I was also happy that check-out is at 11:00, which let me enjoy another relaxing soak in the Onsen in the morning. Everyone on staff was kind, and this has become an Accommodation I definitely want to stay at again. Thank you very much, Ryokan Meiji.
