Stay at the foot of an ancient burial mound. A journey through the five elements to awaken all five senses.

A tranquil accommodation nestled at the foot of Nishiyama Tumulus, along Japan's oldest road, "Yamanobe no Michi." With the concept of "Living with Ancient Tombs," we share the wisdom of coexisting with nature through accommodation, dining, and experiences. The accommodation and dining buildings are designed based on the ancient Chinese philosophy of "Yin-Yang and Five Elements," themed around the five elements: wood, fire, earth, metal, and water. Immerse yourself in a journey that engages all your senses as you experience nature's cycles through this philosophy and feel the flow of time connecting ancient Nara to modern life. Enjoy a moment to return to your origins in this serene place where past and present quietly converge. A portion of your stay fee contributes to maintaining tumuli and their surrounding environment.

  • I visited on a scorching midsummer day, and the Room—created by renovating a mandarin farmer’s home and barn—was incredibly cozy. You can also climb the ancient burial mound next to the Room; from there you get a panoramic view over Nara, and with no one around (except for the frogs in the pond), it was wonderfully quiet. I was able to fully enjoy a beautiful sunset. It was a fantastic space to take in Nara’s scenery from afar. The bath was spacious and comfortable, and the meals were unbelievably delicious and healthy. I’d love to stay again in autumn or spring!

  • I heard from an acquaintance that this was a wonderful place, and it made me want to visit, so I quickly put together a travel plan and made a Reservation. The location, the Room, the meals, and the hospitality were all truly wonderful, and I enjoyed every moment. The medicinal cuisine and tea were delicious, and choosing the two-meal option with my stay was absolutely the right decision. I discovered how delicious Yamato Toki is. Thank you for the wonderful meal.
