  • Your First Solo Trip

    Seeking healing through the Onsen and delicious cuisine, I chose Hotel Matsumotoro for my first solo trip. I enjoyed a luxurious stay without feeling lonely at all. From the warm welcome to the meals, sightseeing advice, and farewell, all the staff provided heartfelt service. I’m glad I chose Hotel Matsumotoro.

  • Overall, it was very good.

    The staff’s welcome was wonderful. I felt good from the moment I arrived at the Hotel. After check-in, they drove us to the stone-step street, and we enjoyed a relaxing stroll. The dinner was served in a private room, and both the portion size and seasoning were great. The in-room open-air bath was spacious enough for two, and the temperature could be adjusted precisely and stayed stable, so we didn’t need to add water or make constant adjustments. We also used both large public baths on the 2nd and 8th floors (they switch between men and women), and we especially liked the one on the 8th floor. The breakfast buffet had a wide variety of dishes, including Mizusawa udon, which really gave us an Ikaho feel. The send-off at departure was also pleasant thanks to the staff’s warm service. It was a Hotel that made us want to come back again.

Ikaho is a historic hot spring town celebrated in the Manyoshu and Kokinshu. Alongside Kusatsu Onsen and Shima Onsen, it is counted among Joshu’s three famous hot springs, and its stone-step streetscape is rich with classic Onsen charm. Our theme is kindness and connection. We take special care with our meals and baths so that guests of all ages—from young children to seniors—can enjoy a wonderful time together as a family.     On a family trip, do you find yourself worrying every time your children get excited and jump around—thinking, “Will this bother the Room below…?”

    Directly beneath these guest Rooms is our large public bath—not another guest Room—so even if your children land energetically after the slide or jump around on the loft, it’s okay!
    Please let them play to their heart’s content.

    Turn the entire Room into a “secret hideout”
    The moment you open the door, the first thing your children will see is the slide!

    Each Room also features a loft bed with stairs, transforming this Ryokan stay into your family’s very own “secret hideout” for the day.
