The long-established inn 'Tenseien' in Hakone Yumoto. The garden features a waterfall beloved by literary figures such as Akiko Yosano and Seisensui Ogiwara, allowing you to enjoy seasonal scenery including autumn foliage, summer skies, and winter landscapes.
It was a standard Room, but it was well cleaned and comfortable. The sky open-air bath offers a wide view, surrounded by lush greenery, and feels wonderfully open—truly the best.Dinner was delicious. The freshly fried shrimp (jumbo shrimp?) tempura was especially tasty.I had been looking forward to breakfast, and I ended up getting seconds of the salmon roe rice bowl.We arrived around noon, completed check-in, and were able to go to the baths. Of course, Room use starts at 3:00 p.m., but we really appreciated it.Check-out can be done from the Room; you can leave after simply returning the card key.It was a comfortable Accommodation in every way.
たいちゃん！ 7/7/2026Dinner was a bento-style hors d’oeuvres set, and everything was delicious. I was surprised that the breakfast buffet used plenty of high-quality ingredients, including seafood rice bowls. Pajamas and yukata were prepared on a different floor, which made them hard to find. I appreciated the water dispensers placed throughout the Hotel. It is a very large Hotel, and there are two natural waterfalls behind it.

"Tamazusa Shrine, the only branch shrine of Hakone Shrine."
At the back of the garden, between two waterfalls, lies the "Tamadare Shrine." It is said to have been established during the Edo period as a shrine within the residence of the Inaba family (lords of Odawara Castle) who once resided in this area. It is the only branch shrine of Hakone Shrine, dedicated to "Kuzuryu Myojin," the guardian deity of Lake Ashi, and is revered as both the "Guardian of Water" and the "God of Matchmaking," similar to Kuzuryu Shrine.
At Tenseien, inspired by the "matchmaking" blessings of Kuzuryu-sama, we offer a variety of charms and mascot goods, including special heart-shaped ema and adorable local dragon and duck Kewpie dolls. Please take a look at the ema adorned with wonderful love wishes during your visit.
Large open-air bath on the rooftop
On the rooftop of Tenjoen, there is the "Rooftop Sky Open-Air Bath" offering a sense of freedom. You can enjoy the natural Onsen with abundant water supply while admiring the splendid scenery of Hakone throughout the four seasons, from the autumn with mountains dyed red, fresh greenery, summer skies, to winter landscapes. The water quality is mildly alkaline, gently enveloping the skin and effective for neuralgia, muscle pain, joint pain, frozen shoulder, and more.
We offer Standard Rooms and Rooms with open-air baths, tailored to your preferences and budget. You can use them flexibly according to your travel style.
The meals at Tenjoen feature a "Special Buffet" where you can enjoy as much of your favorite dishes as you like. Notably, Tenjoen's pride, the "Live Kitchen," allows chefs to prepare seasonal recommended delicacies such as sushi, tempura, and teppanyaki right before your eyes, offering the experience of savoring dishes "freshly made."
