Hotel Casual Euro with Private Hot Spring in Nikko

Last week, I stayed at this Ryokan with a friend and had a wonderful night. The Onsen is excellent, and our Room was equipped with Onsen water and a wooden bathtub, which made for a very relaxing experience. I also truly appreciated how quickly the staff called me when I left something behind, allowing me to retrieve it safely. Please note that the bus service in front of the Ryokan stops running at 3:00 PM.

The red-and-white roof—really, the whole exterior—feels exactly like a “stylish European” image from the Showa era. Even though the new detached restaurant feels modern, when you look at the Hotel as a whole, the concept doesn’t feel cohesive. I thought that if you refreshed the branding colors—such as using peppermint green—you might attract more younger guests.The interior also hasn’t been updated, with faded old printed pictures on display. I felt those could be turned into a strength by leaning into a city-pop style interior and presenting it as “nostalgic Showa.”It almost made me start thinking about marketing ideas on my own—because it would be such a shame for this place to be known only for its wonderful staff and amazing baths.At the restaurant, there were no plant-based options other than the salad bar (sadly). I came ready to spend money, but there weren’t any choices. This is true across Nikko in general. The vegetables were high quality, though, and I wanted to share that on TikTok and similar platforms. The baths were outstanding.Thank you very much.
