  • Silky-Smooth Onsen

    I stayed here with my wife on a trip to Kagoshima. Because it was raining and our flight was delayed, we couldn’t really enjoy the view, but we thoroughly enjoyed the Onsen with excellent water quality. The water is strongly alkaline and leaves your skin silky-smooth—personally, I loved it. The staff were all pleasant, and the meals were delicious without being overly large.Overall, we were satisfied with the Room that has a bath, except that the bathroom is fully visible from the bed. A curtain or similar covering on the bathroom door would help even middle-aged couples feel more comfortable.A great Onsen in a convenient location near Sakurajima and Ogawa Falls. Please continue operating for many years to come. Thank you very much.

    I have stayed here many times since 2013, including twice in some years. The hot spring water quality is excellent, and I would love to visit again.

Tarumizu Onsen is a natural hot spring where underground water from the Takakuma mountain range is heated by the magma of Sakurajima. The spring quality is a colorless, transparent alkaline simple sulfur spring (pH 9.8), known as "Bijin no Yu" (beauty bath) for its silky smooth texture that is popular among visitors. Thanks to its abundant water supply, it offers a natural free-flowing Onsen without circulation systems. General benefits of Tarumizu Onsen include relief for neuralgia, muscle pain, joint pain, frozen shoulder, motor paralysis, bruises, sprains, chronic digestive disorders, hemorrhoids, sensitivity to cold, recovery from illness or fatigue, and overall health improvement. Specific benefits based on its properties are said to include effects on chronic skin diseases, chronic gynecological conditions, cuts and wounds, and diabetes.
