Introduction of the Accommodation

Greetings

Sasayama, located in the southern part of the Tamba region, is a castle town that developed around Sasayama Castle, which was built in Keicho 14 (1609) by Tokugawa Ieyasu as a key point on the Sanin Road and as a base for the Osaka Castle campaign. In Sasayama, which flourished as a transportation hub, the Property was established in the first year of Kaei (1848) with the founding thought, "It would be unfortunate for travelers to have no place to stay." Now in its sixth generation, we continue to operate with the spirit of hospitality passed down through the years. Sasayama is surrounded by a warm and nostalgic countryside landscape. Amidst the gently flowing time and the space that frees your heart, we strive daily to ensure that you can fully enjoy this "precious time" and become a Property that remains in your heart. We sincerely look forward to welcoming you.

A long-established Ryokan
A long-established Ryokan

A long-established culinary Ryokan that has been operating since the first year of the Kaei era, inheriting tradition and the spirit of hospitality. The town offers a delightful experience with its historical sites such as the Sasayama Castle ruins, samurai residences, old merchant houses with gabled roofs, and museums showcasing the traditional culture of Tanba. Walking through the Aoyama Street shopping district, filled with the flavors of Tanba Sasayama, will lift your spirits. This town has a charm that makes you want to visit again and again. At Takasago, we aim to let you feel the allure of Sasayama by using Tanba pottery and preparing dishes with an abundance of seasonal vegetables from local Sasayama, making it a Property rich in local love.

We carefully select ingredients from the blessings of the mountain village, creating dishes that fully bring out their natural flavors. Our specialty, the Sasayama Botan Nabe (wild boar hot pot), is a must-try. Sasayama is known as the birthplace of Botan Nabe and proudly promotes it throughout the town. The area is also famous for its delicious agricultural products such as mountain yams, black soybeans, black edamame, and matsutake mushrooms. The reason Sasayama's ingredients are so flavorful lies in its unique natural environment: a basin with significant temperature differences between day and night, mineral-rich water from the mountains, and fertile soil. We take great care to let you savor these sweet and umami-packed vegetables by highlighting their natural taste in every dish we prepare.
