Kiya Ryokan, a Registered Tangible Cultural Property Inn
Tottori Prefecture/Misasa OnsenRelax and enjoy gourmet cuisine at a historic Ryokan in Misasa Onsen, a renowned hot spring in Tottori Prefecture.
A historic accommodation established in the first year of the Meiji era, located in Misasa Onsen, renowned for its world-class radon content and registered as a National Tangible Cultural Property. Enjoy a rejuvenating journey with unique onsen directly sourced from beneath your feet, indigo dyeing experiences, Ondol yoga, Mitokusan tours (forest bathing), and various other activities to soothe your mind and body.
I’ve stayed at Kiya Ryokan many times. I can’t visit in winter due to transportation and my crab allergy, but from spring through summer it’s the perfect Ryokan for working up a sweat. In particular, when I take a steam bath in the cave-like area, I feel not only my skin but even my lungs are refreshed by the radon in the air I breathe in. The hot spring source is very hot, which is probably what makes this kind of steam bath possible. In the other baths too, the warm rocks underfoot feel wonderful, and I’m always amazed by the fresh heat of the Onsen bubbling up right into the tub. Misasa really is good for your health—especially Kiya Ryokan, where you can thoroughly cleanse yourself from within.

Introduction of the Accommodation

Hospitality at Kiya Ryokan
Radium Onsen, renowned for its world-class radon content, has been cherished since the Edo period as an accommodation where this natural hot spring bubbles up from beneath your feet. Today, we embrace the essence of Onsen culture while treasuring the seasonal beauty of nature and Tottori's local cuisine. Kiya Ryokan offers a serene and relaxing stay, providing a slow-paced retreat to rejuvenate both mind and body.

Blessed with abundant natural resources, Misasa has been a developed area since ancient times, and Kiya Ryokan was originally a village headman's residence.
The establishment entrusted by the Tottori Domain with handling mountain products was known as "Kiya."

Onsen & Bath
Kiya Ryokan features a radon-containing radium chloride spring (salty radon hot spring). Radon, a gas formed by the decay of the radioactive element radium, enters the body through breathing or drinking and circulates in the blood, stimulating and activating cells throughout the body.

Each of the 14 uniquely designed Rooms offers meticulous attention to detail to ensure a warm and welcoming experience for our guests.

At Kiya Ryokan, we use natural, locally sourced ingredients nurtured by beautiful nature, as well as safe and reliable produce grown by our partner farmers. Please enjoy our dishes that are not only delicious but also thoughtfully prepared with your health in mind.
