A slightly upscale, traditional Japanese-style Ryokan on the banks of the clear Arakawa River

A traditional Japanese-style Ryokan on the banks of the clear Arakawa River. Enjoy our open-air garden baths that reflect the beauty of each season, as well as a private panoramic open-air bath with magnificent views of the Iide Mountain Range. Please also savor our cuisine, carefully prepared with seasonal ingredients from Niigata.

  • I came across this Accommodation while searching online for a place to stay during Golden Week, and it turned out to be wonderful. The staff welcomed us with warm smiles. The food, drinks, and water were all excellent. Since it was spring, I was happy to be able to enjoy mountain vegetables as well. The building and rooms are old, but they have been beautifully renovated with great skill and care. I was very satisfied. There is also a row of cherry trees nearby, so I would love to visit again during cherry blossom season.

  • Two women in our 60s traveled together. The exterior and interior feel a bit dated in places, but everything has been beautifully renovated, and the beds were comfortable so we could truly relax. Since we both enjoy sake, we were able to savor it with our meals. The bath water was silky and left our skin smooth, and being able to bathe 24 hours a day was another plus. However, dinner started late, and while enjoying sake we naturally took our time, which later created an atmosphere where we felt rushed to finish eating—unfortunately disappointing. If you like sake, an earlier dinner start is recommended.

Your hometown is here.

In 2008, the Echigo Arakawa River was selected by Japan’s Ministry of the Environment as one of the “Heisei-era 100 Exquisite Waters.” Known as one of Japan’s clearest rivers, its pristine stream soothes and refreshes the soul. Takahashiya Kanzanso is a traditional Japanese-style Accommodation nestled along its banks.

Enjoy breathtaking seasonal views all to yourself

Take the elevator to the 3rd floor, then head up the stairs to the rooftop—an expansive natural panorama awaits. Our private scenic open-air bath (fee applies; advance Reservation required) offers a charming setting with views of the clear Arakawa River below and, in the distance, the renowned Iide Mountain Range. Enjoy seasonal scenery throughout the year: cherry blossoms along Takase in spring, fresh greenery and the Arakawa’s clear stream in summer, autumn foliage in fall, and a snow-viewing bath in winter. Share these breathtaking views with your family, partner, or close friends.
