Orchard × craft × café, a large bath with our own hot spring source, and beautifully presented dishes featuring Yamagata beef. In December 2022, the ofuro café opened inside the property! At Yuyu no Sato Yusa, our highlights—“the top-floor large bath with views of the Zao mountain range” and “Japanese set meals featuring Yamagata beef and Yonezawa beef”—are now enhanced with even more fun from the ofuro café. Guests can use the ofuro café for free before check-in from 10:30 on the day of arrival! Enjoy one of Tohoku’s largest collections with 8,000 books while sipping complimentary coffee or detox water. In our large sauna—the first in Yamagata Prefecture to offer self löyly—we also host heat-wave sessions using fruit aromas! Draft beer and fruit liqueurs are also free! A guest-only lounge is available—spend a relaxing time at Yuyu no Sato Yusa.

  • The staff were absolutely amazing and went above and beyond!

    They welcomed us with a smile as soon as we arrived, guided us kindly, and even carried our luggage to the Room. The conversation was enjoyable, and we had a wonderful stay from start to finish. The property was clean throughout, and the Facility offerings were well maintained—we were very satisfied. When we left, they took photos for us and kept waving until we were completely out of sight, which made us feel truly happy.We would love to stay again.

About Our Hotel

Yuyu no Sato Yusa, an Accommodation located in the Kurosawa Onsen area of Yamagata Prefecture, features its own natural hot spring source on the grounds and a large communal bath with breathtaking views of the majestic Zao mountain range. With the warmth of a Ryokan and the comfort of a Hotel, we offer you a relaxing stay. From December 2022, an “Ofuro Café” area has been added in part of the lobby and on part of the second floor. We offer a variety of spaces, including a book lounge, sauna lounge, second-floor fireplace area, and kids’ area.

Onsen & Bath

Relax in the Onsen while taking in views of the Zao Mountain Range.

At the large public bath of Yuyu no Sato Yusa, we use water from our own natural hot spring source. We are delighted to hear from local guests that their “skin feels silky smooth” after bathing. The magnificent view of the Zao mountain range from the bath is truly breathtaking. Please fully enjoy these one-of-a-kind hot springs and beautiful scenery.

Centered around warm Japanese-style Rooms with a sunroom (hiroen), we offer a variety of Rooms to suit your stay, including Rooms with an open-air bath, Japanese-Western style Rooms, and Western-style twin Rooms. Our four Rooms with an open-air bath are popular for their private setting where you can feel Yamagata’s nature, themed around the four seasons—spring, summer, autumn, and winter.

In December 2022, Ofuro Café opened and the 1st and 2nd floors were renovated! A large sauna room with self löyly—Yamagata Prefecture’s first—has been newly added. There’s plenty to enjoy, including a relaxing space with a fireplace, a kids’ area, and a grand staircase surrounded by books and crafts leading from the open lobby up to the second floor. Guests staying overnight may enter from 10:30 AM on the day of check-in. Enjoy Yusa for a full day.
