Single fishing

"Single-hook fishing" is a traditional method of catching fish using a hook and line. This includes both rod fishing and hand-line fishing, where the line is reeled in by hand. While it may seem that using large nets to catch fish in bulk would be more efficient, single-hook fishing has the advantage of causing less damage to the fish. This ensures higher freshness as blood does not circulate through their bodies. Single-hook fishing is one of the oldest known methods, with bone hooks and sinkers discovered at Jomon period archaeological sites, indicating its practice since ancient times.
