  • Delicious cuisine

    I have stayed here many times.Among the Onsen in Zao, the water quality is excellent, and Tsuruya’s baths suit me perfectly. There are also four types of private baths, so you can relax and enjoy them at your own pace. The food is incredibly delicious—every meat dish is generous in portion size and so tasty that you’ll want to eat it again right away. This time I had the Zao beef steak; it was very tender and wonderful with a variety of flavors such as lemon butter and wasabi. I will definitely visit again. A Multiple Night Stay is also recommended.

  • It was a wonderful Onsen.

    I made a Reservation because I was drawn to the Onsen, and the Room was very clean and comfortable. I was able to make four Reservations for the private baths and fully enjoy all of them. I would love to visit again.

At "Gokan no Yu Tsuruy", there is a private natural spring, and all large public baths and private baths use 100% natural spring water. You can fully enjoy the water quality and abundant flow of Zao Onsen.

The Onsen, naturally flowing without the use of pumps, has a source temperature of approximately 52℃ and is supplied to all indoor large baths, open-air baths, and private baths without heating or adding water.

If arriving by car:
It takes about 20 minutes via Route 21 from the Yamagata Kaminoyama IC on the Tohoku Chuo Expressway.
Please note that there are no gas stations within the Zao Onsen area. The nearest one is approximately 13 km away.

If arriving by train:
From the East Exit of Yamagata Station on the Yamagata Shinkansen, take the Yamagata Kotsu regular route bus bound for Zao Onsen. It takes about 40 minutes. Get off at the final stop, Zao Onsen, which is right in front of the destination.

If arriving by plane:
From Yamagata Airport, take the "Oishii Yamagata Airport Sightseeing Liner" direct to Zao Onsen. It takes about 60 minutes. (Reservation required: Call 023-652-0757, Tendo Taxi. Reservations must be made by 5:00 PM the day before. One-way fare for adults is 3,000 yen.)

The travel time is approximately 3 minutes. Additionally, we provide a free Shuttle Service to the Zao Onsen Ski Resort (Uenodai, Nakamori, Yokokura slopes) from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Please contact us for more details. The travel time is approximately 1 to 3 minutes.
