At a traditional culinary Property in Minami Boso, savor the specialty 'Edo-mae Sutate Mori Kaiseki'.

Located in Minamiboso, about 60 minutes by car from central Tokyo, this traditional Ryokan is renowned for its cuisine. Its specialty is the "Edo-mae Susudate Mori Kaiseki" featuring fresh seafood from Boso. For a touch of luxury, we recommend the special rooms with private open-air baths. Enjoy stunning views of Tokyo Bay's nightscape from the bath.

  • We stayed with our grandchildren to celebrate my father’s 91st birthday. There were five of us, so my father and the grandchildren stayed in a Room with an open-air bath, and we stayed in a different Room. My father was very satisfied. The only concern was that the bath on the 4th floor is accessible only by stairs, which was a bit difficult for my elderly father. What worried us was that our Room’s refrigerator contained partially eaten food—possibly left by a previous guest—which surprised us and made us question whether cleaning was being done properly. The staff were friendly overall, which was nice.

Introduction of the Accommodation

The Journey of Kawana

Established in the eighth year of the Taisho era as a fishing property, and gaining popularity in the early Showa era with net fishing activities in Tokyo Bay, "Ryokan Kawana" has been cherished by many guests. We introduce its journey.

Image c_003.JPG

The exquisite cuisine of 'Kawana' that colors the changing four seasons.

At Ryokan Kawana, we focus on ingredients from South Boso, adhering to the principle of local production for local consumption, striving to provide seasonal flavors. We emphasize not only taste and aesthetics but also food safety and security. The head chef, who has won the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology Award in the Japanese and regional cuisine category, carefully prepares each dish.

Commitment to ingredients.

Fresh seasonal seafood from Minamiboso is sourced daily to ensure the best quality. Vegetables grown in our own farm are carefully prepared with creativity, featuring seasonal highlights such as bamboo shoots and wild mountain vegetables in spring, pumpkin and winter melon in summer, matsutake mushrooms, chestnuts, and other mushrooms in autumn, and daikon radish and nanohana (rapeseed blossoms) in winter.
