A welcoming Accommodation filled with warm smiles, where traces of the early Showa era can be found throughout the property.

The onsen at the property is built in a traditional all-Hinoki bathhouse style. The water is soft, warms the body from the core, and leaves the skin smooth. The cuisine primarily uses local ingredients, allowing you to experience the seasons of Northern Shinano. Additionally, the charm of Shibu Onsen lies in its onsen town. Why not wear wooden clogs and enjoy the Showa-era atmosphere along the stone-paved streets of the onsen town?

Introduction of the Accommodation

image d_013.jpg

No one can live alone. Family, friends, mentors, seniors, colleagues, juniors, neighbors, customers, business partners, and even the people at your favorite local shop—life is built upon countless interactions with various people in various situations. Each of these moments accumulates to form the essence of life itself. Since the Showa era, Shibu Hotel has walked alongside all of you. The Property retains the nostalgic charm of early Showa times throughout its interior, allowing guests to enjoy a happy stay while immersing themselves in the warmth of the Onsen. As a simple yet heartwarming place to stay, we would be truly honored if Shibu Hotel could continue to be loved by everyone. However... we must apologize. We do not know how to fully convey the true "warmth," "aroma," "atmosphere," "texture," "quality," or "flavor" through words alone. We sincerely hope you will come and experience it all firsthand with your own senses.

History of Shibu Hotel

Shibu Hotel, established in May of Showa 10 (1935) Hidenori, the second son of Masaki Yamada from Oshika Village, Nakakubiki District, Niigata Prefecture (now Myoko City, Oshika), and Fumi, the second daughter of Renpei Mikami from Shimokurokawa Village, Nakakubiki District, Niigata Prefecture (now Joetsu City, Kakizaki Ward, Kamiono), were married on June 24, Showa 10 (1935). Masaki, who frequently visited Shibu Onsen for therapeutic baths, purchased a plot of land with an Onsen that was up for sale. He invited the couple, who were living in Tokyo at the time, to Shibu Onsen, and they began operating under the name "Tokgetsuso" on October 1 of the same year. In Showa 11 (1936), the name was changed to "Shibu Hotel." On July 21, Heisei 7 (1995), the entire Hotel was renovated and reopened to commemorate its 60th anniversary. On March 18, Heisei 18 (2006), a replica of a "Showa-era elementary school classroom" was created in the lobby. This nostalgic setting was designed to evoke warm memories and spark cheerful conversations.
