Introduction of the Accommodation

Image of Tekkousen Honkan
In the Edo period, at the junction of the Nakasendo and Koshu Kaido roads, there was an inn called "Tsutaya" in Shimosuwa-juku. This historic inn was passed down, and in 1904 (Meiji 37), the Tekkosen Main Property was established. As a town in front of Suwa Taisha Shrine and the only Onsen town along the Nakasendo, it welcomed many travelers. Moreover, throughout the Meiji, Taisho, and Showa eras, it also hosted the people of Suwa, a region flourishing in silk production and precision industries. The voices of travelers relaxing in the Onsen and savoring the cuisine, the sound of clogs from slightly tipsy gentlemen, the music of shamisen played by geisha, and the scent of face powder—many layers of history are still etched into the Property today.

Room
A pure Japanese architecture built by master carpenters. Each Room is unique in layout and design, showcasing the playful creativity of the master carpenter in every detail. While there may be some inconveniences due to the traditional construction, we believe those who appreciate the charm and atmosphere of classic Japanese architecture will enjoy their stay. We strive to maintain the traditional buildings and furnishings that have been passed down through generations without resorting to modern gimmicks, creating a Property that feels nostalgic no matter when you visit.

Onsen "Tanga no Yu" with 100% natural source. Alkaline, low-tonicity, high-temperature onsen available 24 hours.

We carefully handcraft each dish to ensure you can enjoy the proud ingredients of Shinshu to their fullest flavor.
