Beppu Myoban Onsen Okamotoya Ryokan
Oita Prefecture/Beppu Myoban OnsenFounded in 1875. Enjoy the beautiful celadon-colored hot spring waters in a soothing space loved for generations.
This Ryokan features an open-air garden bath and a distinctive milky-blue Onsen with a slightly bluish, creamy-white hue. In early summer, azaleas bloom, and in winter you can enjoy the fragrance of pomelo floating in the bath—another of its charms. It is also a long-established Onsen Accommodation that has continued since the Meiji era, even in Myoban.
My first time at Myoban Onsen. I’m excited to be able to stay at Okamotoya, which is highly rated in guidebooks.I was very satisfied with the milky-blue water. The Room was just the right size for one person and had a great view, and both dinner and breakfast were delicious. The dessert pudding and the orange juice at breakfast were especially appreciated since I don’t drink alcohol.Since this is a Multiple Night Stay, it really helped that they provided extra yukata and towels.Just one thing: at dinner on the first day, the rice and soup were a bit lukewarm (it was fine on the second day). Also, perhaps due to the season, the seating was quite close to other guests during meals, which made it a little hard to eat comfortably.Still, I’m so satisfied that I’d definitely like to stay again. Thank you very much.
明礬サイコー 8/5/2026My solo trip to Beppu Onsen was a great choice with this Accommodation. It’s a traditional, old-style place where the stairs creak, but the Room has been renovated, and I especially loved the spacious, spotless vanity area. The furnishings are tasteful, and there’s none of that unpleasant “old” feeling at all. I was soothed by the view, enjoyed delicious meals, and soaked in the milky-blue Onsen again and again. The amenities in the large public bath were well stocked, and even small details—like frequently refreshing the hot water in the Room kettle—were thoughtfully taken care of. I would definitely recommend it to anyone I know visiting Beppu.

Introduction of the Accommodation

Soft, beautiful celadon-colored hot spring water
The milky, bluish-white water—often likened to celadon—is an alum and sulfur spring rich in sulfur minerals. Its mysterious hue hints at its therapeutic benefits, while the water feels wonderfully soft on the skin. In early summer, enjoy blooming azaleas; in winter, relax in a yuzu bath… Surrender body and mind to the garden open-air bath as it changes with the seasons, and savor an irreplaceable moment of bliss as you become one with nature.

100% pure natural Onsen. You can also view the Myoban Bridge from the large public bath windows.

The hot springs at the long-established Okamotoya are alum springs, praised as especially therapeutic among the eight Beppu hot spring areas.

Onsen & Bath
