Founded in 1875. Enjoy the beautiful celadon-colored hot spring waters in a soothing space loved for generations.

This Ryokan features an open-air garden bath and a distinctive milky-blue Onsen with a slightly bluish, creamy-white hue. In early summer, azaleas bloom, and in winter you can enjoy the fragrance of pomelo floating in the bath—another of its charms. It is also a long-established Onsen Accommodation that has continued since the Meiji era, even in Myoban.

  • My first time at Myoban Onsen. I’m excited to be able to stay at Okamotoya, which is highly rated in guidebooks.I was very satisfied with the milky-blue water. The Room was just the right size for one person and had a great view, and both dinner and breakfast were delicious. The dessert pudding and the orange juice at breakfast were especially appreciated since I don’t drink alcohol.Since this is a Multiple Night Stay, it really helped that they provided extra yukata and towels.Just one thing: at dinner on the first day, the rice and soup were a bit lukewarm (it was fine on the second day). Also, perhaps due to the season, the seating was quite close to other guests during meals, which made it a little hard to eat comfortably.Still, I’m so satisfied that I’d definitely like to stay again. Thank you very much.

  • My solo trip to Beppu Onsen was a great choice with this Accommodation. It’s a traditional, old-style place where the stairs creak, but the Room has been renovated, and I especially loved the spacious, spotless vanity area. The furnishings are tasteful, and there’s none of that unpleasant “old” feeling at all. I was soothed by the view, enjoyed delicious meals, and soaked in the milky-blue Onsen again and again. The amenities in the large public bath were well stocked, and even small details—like frequently refreshing the hot water in the Room kettle—were thoughtfully taken care of. I would definitely recommend it to anyone I know visiting Beppu.

About Hygiene Measures
[Measures Against COVID-19] - We regularly disinfect high-touch surfaces used by guests and staff. - In our dining area, air purifiers with virus-inhibiting functions operate 24 hours a day, and after use we sanitize and disinfect using an ozone generator. (Ozone gas has been confirmed to be effective against viruses in general and is believed to be effective against COVID-19 as well.) During meal times, we ensure at least 2 meters of distance between guest groups to avoid crowding. Seats are not rotated for use by other guests. Staff will wear gloves when serving meals. - As the building is wooden and not highly airtight, we believe ventilation is sufficient; however, we take additional measures such as opening windows before check-in. - All staff wear masks and frequently wash hands, gargle, and disinfect hands. Health checks such as temperature screening are conducted before work, and any staff member who feels unwell will not report to work. - We kindly ask all guests for their cooperation with infection prevention measures. If you have cold-like symptoms, fever, fatigue (malaise), shortness of breath (difficulty breathing), or feel unwell in any way, please refrain from visiting. Upon arrival, we may ask you to sanitize your hands. In accordance with requests from the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, we conduct temperature checks. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. 1. If your temperature at check-in is 37.5°C or higher or you have symptoms such as coughing or sore throat, we will contact the public health center or other relevant authorities and follow their instructions. 2. Guests with fever or symptoms such as coughing or sore throat may be asked to wait in a private room away from other guests and to refrain from going out. Please wear a mask when moving around inside the property. We are committed to protecting the safety and health of our guests so that you can enjoy a comfortable stay with peace of mind. Thank you very much for your understanding and cooperation.
