All rooms face the Shiman River, a modern Ryokan with a Showa retro ambiance.

This is a modern Ryokan at Shima Onsen, popular among women. It features a large public bath and three private open-air baths that can be used multiple times for free. Check-out is at 12 PM, making it ideal for those who wish to relax in the morning.

  • This was my first long-awaited trip to Shima Onsen. As we got closer to Shima Onsen, we were greeted by lush, untouched natural scenery…Before checking in to the Accommodation, we went a little further to Lake Okushimako, where the stunning “Shima Blue” surface looked exactly like it does in travel magazines…Everything was wonderful.Kashiwaya Ryokan, located slightly outside the Onsen town area, was outstanding in every way—the Ryokan atmosphere, meals, Onsen, and the view from our Room…The complimentary coffee served in the library…All of it was excellent. And just as we reluctantly checked out and were about to step out of the entrance, there was a charming farewell with bubbles and “Thank you”…It was hospitality through and through—far beyond complete satisfaction—it made us think, “We want to come back!”I truly believe this is an Accommodation that lets you fully enjoy Shima Onsen. We would love to return again in a different season.

  • I chose to stay here because I was drawn to the three different open-air baths. Each one had its own charm, and I truly enjoyed them all. The building itself feels like a traditional Ryokan, and its age only adds to the atmosphere with a tasteful, well-crafted design. The meals were delicious, and above all, the staff’s hospitality was outstanding. The optional sake pairing with dinner let me try local sake that’s hard to find elsewhere—highly recommended for anyone who loves sake. There is also a library where you can enjoy complimentary coffee, and with a relaxed checkout time, you can really take your time and enjoy the Ryokan itself.
