Families are very welcome! Make Kamenoi Hotel Yaizu your choice for summer vacation!

[Insider Tip] Until 8/31, we’re offering welcome ice cream and more in the lobby! After playing at the Kids Park or exploring the cardboard maze, stop by the restaurant for a mini festival. Enjoy chocolate bananas and grape scooping. We have expanded our guest rooms and fully refreshed our existing rooms, as well as the lobby and restaurant. In addition, we have opened a new Kids Park, renewing the space for an even more comfortable stay. Yaizu is a fishing town home to Yaizu Port, one of Japan’s major bases for deep-sea fishing. Our Hotel is located on a hilltop, and from the top-floor panoramic large public bath you can take in sweeping views of Suruga Bay and the Yaizu cityscape. At night, you can also enjoy sparkling city lights. “Yaizu Onsen,” ranked No. 1 in the Health & Sports category of the 2025 Onsen General Election, is a chloride spring containing about half the salinity of seawater. Its mildly alkaline water is gentle on skin, highly moisturizing, and known for retaining warmth long after bathing. For dining, savor kaiseki cuisine made with seasonal delicacies from both sea and mountains, including “Yaizu Minami Maguro” (Southern Bluefin Tuna), certified by Shizuoka Food Selection. Use our Hotel as your base for exploring central Shizuoka—such as Nihondaira and Miho no Matsubara.

  • I decided to stay one more night before heading back to Chiba, so I went to Kamenoi Hotel Yaizu. As soon as I arrived, I headed straight to the coin laundry—being able to do laundry is so convenient. At the restaurant, the manager recommended a Shizuoka-only beer. They said it is delivered from a nearby brewery, and the fresh beer was truly delicious. They also carefully select local Yaizu ingredients. I’m not usually a fan of bonito, but the “rare bonito cutlet” was amazingly good. The grilled salted tuna collar at breakfast was also impressive. I accidentally spilled soy sauce from the sashimi and wiped it up with my hand towel, which turned completely black. A male foreign staff member noticed and quietly handed me a new towel saying, “Here you go.” I was very happy that he noticed—thank you very much. I’d love to visit again for the delicious beer and Yaizu seafood.

  • We always stay here when traveling with three generations, and we truly appreciate your hospitality.(It also feels nostalgic because my father worked here back in the Kanpo days!)Since the renovation, it has become even more comfortable for children, and we made more wonderful memories again this time.As part of the summer vacation program, our kids were thrilled right after arrival with the cardboard maze and the guests-only soft-serve ice cream and ice pops!At dinner, there were also summer-only treats like chocolate bananas and shaved ice—like a fun festival. They were set up so they couldn’t be seen from our seats at first, so after the kids finished their meal and we told them about it, they happily went to get some.We really like that both breakfast and dinner are served at the table rather than buffet-style, so we can relax and enjoy our meal. The dishes used Yaizu sashimi and rice, and we could feel the care put into the food. And we were absolutely full!!!The Onsen water quality has been great for years, and my mother and daughter were able to relax together. We stayed in a Room with an open-air bath, and had a welcome little visitor (a cicada)! The kids loved it (it was gone by morning). The staff at the front desk and shop were kind and helpful as well—this is a Hotel where we can feel safe and comfortable. If there were a Room that could accommodate six people, that would be perfect; from next time we will need to book two rooms. We would be very happy if there were an option where everyone could stay together. Thank you again for your continued support.

Recommended Summer Spot: Oigawa Railway Train Journey

Oigawa Railway, which marked its 100th anniversary on March 10, 2025, is a recommended sightseeing attraction running through central-west Shizuoka Prefecture.

A nostalgic rail journey is popular here, featuring steam locomotives and Japan’s only Abt rack railway as you travel past Kawane tea fields and the spectacular scenery of Oku-Oi. Highlights include Oku-Oi Kojō Station floating on the lake, the secluded Yume no Tsuribashi (Dream Suspension Bridge), and Kawane Onsen where you can see the steam locomotive—plus many other spots to enjoy seasonal nature and Onsen.

    [Enjoy the Seasons]
・Kayama Cherry Blossoms: The cherry blossom tunnel and the Kayama River embankment are among the most famous sakura spots along the line. The view from the train is also outstanding. (Best time: late March to early April)
・Nukuri Area in Early Summer: Around Nukuri Station you’ll find tea fields stretching as far as the eye can see. In May, fresh new-tea greenery is especially vivid. (Best time: early May)
・Autumn Leaves in Sumatakyo Gorge: Sumatakyo Gorge and Yume no Tsuribashi showcase stunning natural colors and are a popular autumn destination along the Oigawa River. Around October, the “Sumatakyo Washi Light Exhibition” is also held. (Best time: late November)

    [Enjoy the Views]
・Oku-Oi Kojō Station: An unmanned station located in the middle of Sessoko Lake.
・Apt Ichishiro Station: Watch coupling operations for Japan’s only Abt rack electric locomotive.
・Kamio Station Tanuki Village: The mountainside facing Kamio Station’s platform is filled with many Shigaraki-ware tanuki statues.

*Please check Oigawa Railway’s official website for steam locomotive operation updates.*

  • Nihondaira Zoo Entrance

Summer Recommendation: Nihondaira Zoo / Summer Zoo Festival

A municipal zoo located at the foot of Nihondaira, famous for its spectacular views of Mt. Fuji across Suruga Bay.
Visitors are captivated by the adorable 모습 of a wide variety of animals, including red pandas.
The zoo features “behavioral exhibits” that recreate environments close to each species’ natural habitat and bring out their instincts.
At the popular “Predator House 299,” you can observe polar bears swimming underwater, as well as big cats such as Amur tigers and jaguars.
Seeing these powerful animals from below—including their bellies and huge paw pads—is sure to thrill both adults and children!
Another highlight is one of Japan’s largest flying cages, the “Flying Mega Dome.”
You can watch many kinds of birds up close in a setting that closely resembles their natural environment.
With plenty of indoor exhibits, including “Predator House 299,” it’s also comfortable to enjoy even on rainy days.
A great spot to meet lively animals without worrying about the weather.
