Hotel Idigo Nagasaki Glover Street
Nagasaki Prefecture/Nagasaki CityA luxury lifestyle Hotel designated as a Traditional Building
Nagasaki is a port city where Japanese and international cultures have intersected, nurturing a distinctive sense of beauty. Hotel Indigo Nagasaki Glover Street is located in Minamiyamate, an area known for its refined, exotic streetscapes that symbolize the city. The main building is a traditional brick structure over 127 years old, once used as a convent and designated as a historic property. Preserving its heritage value, it continues to weave its story into the future as a luxury lifestyle Hotel where you can connect with history simply by staying. Throughout the Hotel and guestrooms, the design reflects the aesthetics of Nagasaki’s Wa–Ka–Ran culture—Japanese, Chinese, and Dutch influences. Original arched windows from around 127 years ago harmonize with art inspired by Nagasaki, turning your stay into an experience that feels like traveling through a story. At Restaurant Cathedréclat, set within what was once a chapel space, enjoy creative cuisine centered on local ingredients in a truly one-of-a-kind setting. History, architecture, and cuisine—come together in perfect harmony. Journey through time and enjoy a stay where every moment shines.
Although it is a bit far from the nearest public transportation, it is in a quiet location and within walking distance of Glover Garden and Oura Cathedral. It seems the Hotel has not been open for very long, but the staff’s hospitality was outstanding. We enjoyed both breakfast and dinner, and the creative, innovative menu skillfully blended Western and Japanese flavors with excellent quality. Even if you are not staying overnight, it appears the restaurant can be used on its own, so it’s a great option to consider for your stay or dining in Nagasaki.
シイカ 8/7/2026I truly believe our enjoyable stay in Nagasaki was thanks to everyone at the Hotel. We were delighted by the warm hospitality at both arrival and departure, as well as the thoughtful, understated attentiveness during afternoon tea. Because it is close to Glover Garden and Oura Cathedral, we were able to visit right after opening when it was less crowded, taking our time to look closely and enjoy taking photos. The night view of Nagasaki from the courtyard was absolutely beautiful—we lost track of time. Of course, the wonderful Room and the taxi Shuttle Service were also excellent. This is a Hotel we would definitely love to visit again.

Introduction of the Accommodation

Where time leaps. Where time dances.
In 1898, Father Petitjean of Oura Cathedral invited nuns from France and founded a convent—this is where the story of this building begins. Breathing new life into this historic structure and carrying its legacy forward is Hotel Indigo Nagasaki Glover Street. A stay here is a luxurious journey through Nagasaki’s history and culture. In a space where past and future quietly converge, enjoy unhurried moments that make you feel as if you are part of the story.

Since 1898, the Main Building has carried on its story as a preserved historic structure. From its iconic arched windows to its finely crafted details, the architecture reflects an enduring sense of beauty passed down through the ages. Staying in these spaces—beginning with the arched windows in each guest room—offers more than just a night’s stay; it is an experience that connects you with the story of this place. Enjoy a truly special stay while embracing the legacy woven into this building.

A newly opened North Wing has been created at a place that has been weaving stories since 1898. This is another setting for your stay—one that carries the story that begins here into the future. In an airy space filled with light from large windows, calm interiors in shades of green and blue create a serene, refined atmosphere. From your room, enjoy a variety of views: the harbor and changing sky, or the Main Building’s historic brickwork and stained glass. Take a moment to feel Nagasaki’s ever-changing scenery from this special place. Enjoy a stay that marks the beginning of new memories.

European tiles inspired by Nagasaki Sarasa, furniture evoking Meganebashi (Spectacles Bridge), and butterfly motifs drawn from Nagasaki’s iconic opera *Madama Butterfly*. Throughout the property, designs inspired by Nagasaki’s culture and history are woven into every detail.

Shift your gaze from this historic building that has watched over the ages, and an open panorama unfolds—overlooking Nagasaki Port and the Megami Bridge, with history, nature, and the cityscape all in view. A camphor tree, approximately 300 years old and preserved as it was in those days, still welcomes every guest today. Relax to your heart’s content as you feel time gently pass.

Neighborhood
Around the Hotel, the Minamiyamate area—where traces of foreign cultures remain vivid—offers many attractions where you can experience Nagasaki’s history and culture. Glover Garden, rich in international atmosphere, is home to the World Heritage Site “Former Glover House,” and iconic historic spots such as Oura Cathedral, designated a National Treasure, are also within walking distance. In addition, a short trip to Nabekanmuri-yama offers views of Nagasaki’s night scenery, counted among the “New Three Great Night Views of the World.” The layered lights unique to this port city create a beautiful panorama known as a symbol of Nagasaki at night.
