  • Not only were the ingredients excellent, but the cooking was outstanding as well. Since it was the rainy season, I wasn’t expecting to see a sunset, but during dinner on our second night a staff member told us, “I’m sorry to interrupt your meal, but if you’d like, you can step outside to watch the sun set.” We went out in our slippers and were thrilled to catch the sunset—many thanks for the staff’s kindness.

The Sea of Japan viewed from the expansive garden

HOTEL AZUMA features a 7000-tsubo garden where you can experience the changing seasons. In spring, rapeseed flowers bloom in abundance, and in summer, lush green grass and trees thrive. In autumn, enjoy the red leaves and the sounds of insects, while in winter, the rough winds and snow from the Sea of Japan create a unique atmosphere. By this seasonal garden, there is a white swing that seems to leap into the sea. During the magic hour at sunset, you are sure to capture stunning photographs.

Starry sky

A sky full of twinkling stars

The nights in Sado are very quiet and enveloped in pitch-black darkness. When you look up at the sky, you'll see a sparkling starry sky spread out before you. At HOTEL AZUMA, we minimize outdoor lighting so you can luxuriously enjoy the starry night sky. Please indulge in the starry sky as if you were in a planetarium.
