Concept

Blessed by nature and defined by the changing seasons, Hakone–Miyanoshita has a character all its own. Within this landscape lies a secluded, untouched valley, hidden away from view. About 100 meters below the national highway. As if gliding down to the valley floor, you arrive at an almost unimaginable stillness—wrapped in the veil of a murmuring river, with not even a hint of human presence. Espacio Hakone Guest House Rinho Kiryu is born here. As if embraced by Hakone itself.

Onsen

Deep beneath Hakone, a true gift of nature has been flowing abundantly since ancient times. Hakone Onsen was discovered in the mid-8th century and became widely known during the Edo period. The hot spring sources of Yumoto, Tonosawa, Miyanoshita, Sokokura, Kiga, Ashinoyu, and Dogashima developed into therapeutic bathing areas and came to be collectively known as the “Hakone Seven Springs.” This is where the origins and growth of Ryokan in Hakone began. Since then, Onsen retreats spread among feudal lords, wealthy merchants, and their families, laying the foundation for Hakone as a hot spring resort area—and even today, Hakone remains a place of peace and relaxation.
