An all-suite auberge surrounded by Hakone’s nature, with a sauna and Onsen in every room

The second Kamakura Cocon Hotel grand opened in February 2024. In a setting of deep tranquility, you can fully experience Hakone’s rich natural surroundings. This is an all-suite auberge with only five suites. Rooms range from 92 to 126 sqm. Step away from the bustle of everyday life and enjoy a space with views of Hakone’s scenery. Every Room features a dry sauna, cold plunge bath, and Owakudani Onsen. The Hotel is filled with art and surrounded by trees, creating a quiet atmosphere that enhances an extraordinary stay. In the large public bath, we offer two types of baths: a semi-open-air bath and an herbal bath. You can also enjoy Hakone’s scenery and Owakudani Onsen outside your Room. Dining features modern French cuisine focused on seasonal ingredients—“nagori,” “shun,” and “hashiri.” We source not only local ingredients but also items obtained directly from producers across The whole country. We also offer an extensive wine list, including sommelier-selected wine pairing sets. Enjoy a special moment in your own private space amid the abundant nature of Sengokuhara, Hakone. How about a stay in our all-suite Hotel with only five Rooms? Please note: this Facility has three floors but no elevator. For your comfort, we have entrances on both the first and second floors. Thank you for your understanding in advance.

  • It had been since last autumn, but this is an Accommodation that soothes me no matter when I visit. Of course, the Room and the Onsen are wonderful, as are the meals—modern French with witty, thought-provoking menus each time, and a Japanese breakfast made with carefully selected ingredients—but even more than that, I’m always delighted by the staff’s quiet attentiveness everywhere, including turndown service during both dinner and breakfast.I go outside the rear entrance to smoke each time, and there was a small bench that hadn’t been there before. Near the exit were several mats you can use on the bench. I was moved by these little touches and found myself even more captivated by Kokon. I’m already looking forward to deciding when to visit next.

  • Surrounded by greenery, we could see Mt. Fuji in the distance. We were able to relax and spend time doing nothing at all. We also enjoyed the Onsen and sauna. The dinner was French cuisine, and we were amazed by the chef’s skill using a wood fire. The heat control was perfect, and the seasoning was exquisite. The venison was the best I’ve ever had. Above all, the many creative dishes unlike anything we’d tried before were outstanding—easily comparable to top restaurants in Tokyo. Even for dessert, that big-built chef creates something delicate and beautiful. The wine selection is excellent as well. Breakfast was simple but healthy and delicious. There weren’t many side dishes to go with rice, but the pork miso soup was wonderful. This was our second visit, and we would definitely like to stay again.
