A stay-in base where you can fully experience the wonders of the Oki UNESCO Global Geopark

A 3-hour ferry ride from the Shimane Peninsula brings you to the Oki Islands—an archipelago of 180 large and small islands. The scenery before your eyes feels as if it could vanish at any moment—perhaps gone by tomorrow. A raw, exposed Earth, and the island life that has been woven there over time. All of this is captured in Ama Town’s motto: “If we don’t have it, we don’t need it.” By turning our attention to what we have—and what we don’t— we ask what true “richness” really means. Here you will find Entô, an Accommodation base facility for the Oki UNESCO Global Geopark, inviting you to reconnect with the Earth and with people.

  • They were extremely kind. The next day, I tried to book a sightseeing taxi, but none were available and I was in trouble. A member of the Hotel staff kindly showed me around for half a day. Thank you so much.It may be rude to say this, but I was surprised to find such a wonderful Hotel in Oki.

  • Overall, everything was excellent, but if I had to mention one thing, I’d like to see the large public bath renovated. It feels quite old—the door is heavy, the floors in both the bathing area and changing room are worn and slippery, and the cleaning didn’t seem as thorough as it could be—which was disappointing. The views in the morning and evening are especially wonderful. The food was also very delicious. It’s the perfect place to go when you want to do nothing at all.

About Access (Ferry Service)

Due to reduced ferry services, Oki Kisen ferries are currently extremely crowded.
Crowding is expected to continue from mid-July to around mid-October, and lines may form more than 30 minutes before departure. Please arrive at the port with plenty of time.

Without an advance Reservation, you may not be able to secure a seat or space onboard. The only seat classes that can be reserved in advance are “Special 2nd Class Cabin” and above. As availability is limited, we recommend making your Reservation early if you wish to reserve a seat.

If you have any questions about traveling by ferry, please contact Ento.

A Tiny Spot on Earth

About 80 km north of the Shimane Peninsula. A 3–4 hour ferry ride. Far, far from the city lies Ama Town on Nakanoshima, one of the Oki Islands. Entô, a base Accommodation where you can stay, opened in 2021 in this area designated as Daisen-Oki National Park and the Oki UNESCO Global Geopark. Our hospitality is the untouched “geo” landscape spreading out before your eyes. Entô is a geopark hub Facility, an Accommodation where you can stay within the geopark, and a place where island residents and visitors come together. You may spend time watching boats drift by at an unhurried pace. You may actively cycle around the island. You may head out for a nighttime walk to feel the stillness. You may take your time enjoying the exhibits inside. You may chat with locals on the terrace. Every experience at Entô connects to “geo.” Set down your heavy luggage for now and spend your time freely—just as you are.

Annex NEST
Annex NEST

Annex NEST, built in 2021. A three-story building filled with the gentle scent of wood, offering six room types. Its “Honest” and “Seamless” design blends into the surrounding nature, creating a smooth connection between indoors and outdoors.

BASE (Main Building)
BASE (Main Building)

The Main Building serves as the base for your stay, with key facilities such as the front desk, dining area, and Onsen. Guest rooms are located on the 4th and 5th floors, with 9 rooms per floor for a total of 18 rooms. All 9 rooms on the 5th floor were renovated in April 2024.

Onsen

This space on the first floor of the annex (Entô NEST) features a full wall of windows with a geo-scape view and exhibits of dinosaur and other prehistoric fossils. After billions of years of continuous changes to the land, Oki is now right before your eyes. Settle into the solitary sofa and spend time at ease, feeling the weight of time that has accumulated here.

Entô Dining

Fresh fish and meat, vegetables and fruit provided by the island’s producers, along with seaweed and herbs we gather ourselves, are the stars that bring Entô’s kitchen to life. We offer a relaxed setting where you can unwind and enjoy conversation.

We offer an early-bird Multiple Night Stay Plan with a 30-day advance booking discount.

To help you enjoy a deeper, more unhurried stay in Oki Dozen, we offer a “Multiple Night Stay Discount Plan” with special rates for Reservations made at least 30 days in advance.

With Entô as your base, this is a place where one night is simply not enough—whether you want to savor the luxury of doing nothing or immerse yourself in the island’s culture. Plan ahead and treat yourself to a stay where you can fully surrender to the island’s rhythm.

  • [Recommended for stays of 2 nights or more] Explore the Shimamae Three Islands by inter-island ferry

The “Dōzen” area, where Entô is located, consists of three islands—Ama Town (Nakanoshima), Nishinoshima Town, and Chibu Village (Chiburijima)—arranged around a caldera.

As this region can only be reached by boat, we recommend staying at least two nights to fully enjoy it.
Use Entô as your base and take a coastal ferry to the neighboring islands. Each island offers its own distinctive scenery, from Nishinoshima’s dramatic Matengai Cliffs to Chiburijima’s striking Red Cliffs.

Enjoy both quiet time at the Accommodation and active island-hopping. For the best experience in Oki, we encourage you to plan a relaxed itinerary with plenty of time.
