The staff member who welcomed us was outstanding, and the drinks and light snacks in the lobby were excellent, giving us the immediate impression that this was a top-class Hotel. The meals were delicious and high quality, and we were very satisfied with the thorough explanations and attentive service despite how busy it seemed. The location is great, with beautiful views of the Seto Inland Sea and a well-maintained building; it was comfortable, and because it faces west we could enjoy the scenery throughout without worrying about direct sunlight. The private bath was also spacious, clean, and comfortable. The late-night curry service was perfectly timed when we felt a bit hungry, which increased our satisfaction even more. If I had to mention anything, aside from the person who first assisted us and the staff member who served us at dinner, some others—while doing their best—seemed inexperienced; also, the building felt somewhat like a retreat facility rather than having more distinctive character.

Staying at an Onsen Ryokan often falls into a predictable routine: check in, take a bath to unwind, bathe again after dinner, go to bed; then enjoy breakfast after a morning bath and check out. As you travel more, you come to appreciate the kind of Accommodation that gently breaks that mold—and this Ryokan offered thoughtful touches throughout.First, right after check-in I used the private bath. Soaking in a spotless tub while looking out over the sea, I was able to relax completely without worrying about other guests. Meanwhile, although you can’t see the ocean from the open-air bath in the large public bath area, what stood out was that they continuously flow fresh spring water—just over 30°C—without heating it. A booklet provided at check-in explains in detail the benefits and comfort of enjoying radon Onsen without added heat. In practice there were few users, so I could savor an unhurried, luxurious time. I also appreciated the Ryokan’s care in compiling such information into a booklet.Dinner was refined French cuisine—highly satisfying both visually and in flavor. Breakfast was not a buffet but a Japanese set meal, and it left an impression that I could enjoy my meal slowly in a calm atmosphere. To keep guests from staying shut away in their Room all day, the lobby offers drinks and light refreshments as well as events depending on the time of day. Even though there is no TV in the guest Rooms, there are plenty of thoughtful ideas throughout to prevent boredom and make you enjoy your stay itself.When people think of sightseeing around Hiroshima, easy access often draws them toward Miyajima—but as a base for boosting tourism in the Kure area as well, this is a Ryokan I hope will continue to thrive.
