Less than a two-hour flight from Tokyo, "Wasure no Sato Gajoen" is a beautiful Property that perfectly blends into the lush, deep greenery of Kirishima's nature, offering an exceptional escape despite its outstanding accessibility. Situated along the Amori River, the Property features only eight standalone Rooms, each housed in relocated traditional thatched-roof houses. Every Room is equipped with a private Onsen bath, fed 100% by natural hot spring sources. The dishes, delicately prepared with vegetables grown in the Property's own garden, deliver flavors unique to the region and nourish deeply. The thatched roofs, irori hearths, and the river flowing beside the Property evoke a sense of peace, reminiscent of Japan's traditional rural landscapes. "Wasure no Sato Gajoen" is a place where you can forget the distractions of daily life while rediscovering the truly important things that should never be forgotten.
During our 2-night, 3-day stay, we were able to truly relax both body and mind. Since we live in Saitama and this is Kagoshima, we can’t visit often, but we would definitely love to return.From the warm welcome to the delicious dinner… the treats of shochu and fireworks… I’m still thinking about how best to describe how wonderful it all was. The food was never flashy; instead, it was carefully prepared using freshly harvested vegetables and local fish and meat, and it felt as if I was becoming healthier from the inside out. Simply delicious! You can also feel the attention given to the tableware and presentation.The hot spring water… without a doubt, it was outstanding. We also felt completely at ease in our Room. Above all, we could sense kindness and care in every detail. The message written on a beautiful leaf, and the rice balls and rolled omelet you gave us to take when going out or returning—both were heartwarming and delicious.Thank you very much. Your warm hospitality—while maintaining just the right distance for each guest—was excellent in every way. This Accommodation reminded us of a gentle kindness that daily busyness had made us forget.Lastly… we hope that adorable pair of chickens stays healthy for a long time. Thank you for such wonderful memories. We would love to visit again for sure.
ゆ*り 9/1/2026I had stayed at Tenku no Mori before, but this was my first time using this Ryokan. Overall, I think it is a truly wonderful Accommodation. The meals that make the most of ingredients such as vegetables and local chicken were excellent, and the baths have a great retro feel. The staff were all kind as well, and it’s easy to see why this charming, traditional Ryokan has repeat guests. If you are looking for something flashy or luxurious, it may not be what you expect, but for us it became one of our favorite Accommodations. We didn’t want to leave.One thing I wished for was towel hooks on the wall. Since we bathed many times, I think wall hooks would be more convenient than freestanding ones. I would be happy if you could consider something that doesn’t detract from the interior.We would definitely like to visit again. We were also delighted with the flower pendant given to us when we left. Thank you very much.
