"Kappo Ryokan Wakamatsu" was established in 1922 (Taisho 11) in Hakodate. Since then, it has been cherished for nearly a century as a long-established Ryokan offering the finest hospitality in Hakodate Yunokawa Onsen, one of Hokkaido's premier tourist destinations. In 1954 (Showa 29), it was honored to host His Majesty the Emperor during his tour of Hokkaido, and in recent years, it has been awarded one star in the "Michelin Guide Hokkaido." While preserving the hospitality refined through such history and tradition, "Wakamatsu Yugawara Sekitei" was established in March 2018 (Heisei 30) in Yugawara. In the picturesque and tranquil Yugawara, beloved by artists and writers, we warmly invite you to forget the hustle and bustle of daily life and enjoy a peaceful and relaxing time.

  • This is an Accommodation I would love to stay at again.

    This Accommodation made me wish I could have extended my stay if I hadn’t had work the next day.From the parking guidance on arrival through to check-out, we received warm and pleasant hospitality. As it is a Ryokan with only a few Rooms, it felt very private, and we hardly ever shared the Onsen with other guests.It was a wonderful escape from everyday life and left us feeling refreshed. We would love to visit again.

    We stayed here as a couple.We’ve traveled often, but we have never felt such genuine hospitality. It began with the warm welcome even before we stepped through the Ryokan entrance, continued with the attendant’s guidance to our Room, thoughtful service during in-room dining, pleasant conversation, and all the way to the send-off at checkout—we were truly moved by this hospitality. The interior of the Ryokan is entirely tatami-matted as well; it’s quintessentially Japanese. We felt completely relaxed. The meals were also extremely satisfying. Thank you very much.

Since ancient times, the hot springs of Yugawara have been known as "Yakushi's Onsen," featuring an ideal water quality of weak saline and weak alkaline, which is very gentle on the skin. From within the premises, a natural hot spring source at 52°C flows continuously. With abundant water volume, the clear water fills the baths throughout the day. Enjoy the Yugawara Onsen, mentioned in Japan's oldest poetry anthology "Manyoshu," and its history, where the rich hot springs have been flowing continuously since the Manyo era.

    To ensure an even more comfortable dining experience, we will be changing the dining location for certain Room types for stays from Friday, August 1, 2026.

    - Special Rooms (Tessai / Hiroshige): Dinner and breakfast will continue to be served in your Room (no change).
    * Enjoy a private dining experience without concern for those around you.
    - All other Room types: Dinner and breakfast will be served at our dining venue.
    * In a calm atmosphere at the dining venue, you can enjoy freshly prepared dishes.


    For guests who completed a Reservation by June 29 for stays on or after August 1, dinner and breakfast will be served in your Room as originally 안내ounced, even if you are staying in a Room other than Tessai or Hiroshige.
    We will welcome you as scheduled with no changes to your Reservation details.
