This is my fourth stay, and each time has been better than the last. In addition to the exceptional hospitality each staff member shows to every guest, you can also feel their dedication to continually improving the Accommodation, and I discover something new with every visit. I’m always grateful for the irreplaceable time I get to spend here—something I can only experience at Takinami. Next time will be in autumn. Thank you in advance.
カシタニ56 8/8/2026It was the best stay in Yamagata. Some of the guest Rooms are renovated from a traditional storehouse, with a wonderful atmosphere and beautifully preserved beams. The Room also comes with a private Onsen, so you can enjoy it anytime you like. The water is a bit hot, so you may want to stir it and adjust the temperature. The service was excellent, and I felt reassured that even if something came up or there was any trouble, everything would be handled well. For dinner at the restaurant “1/365,” they offer a course menu using seasonal ingredients that changes daily—similar to Quintessence. You can also add an optional pairing course, and I highly recommend choosing your preferred pairing! Each carefully selected drink was outstanding, and it was fascinating to hear stories from the sommelier and diploma holders. Also, on the morning after our stay, the manager kindly took us on a tour to a nearby mountain. We heard many stories that made me truly love Yamagata even more—and I definitely want to come back!Thank you very much!

Introduction of the Accommodation

Founded in 1915 by the first generation, Takizo and Onami, our Property celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2016. In 2017, we welcomed Mr. Tetsuro Iwasa of Jiyujin Co., Ltd. and Satoyama Jujo as our creative director and underwent a full renovation. On August 1, 2017, we embarked on our "second founding" as a Property. The new name, "Yamagata The Takinami," embodies our desire for guests to fully enjoy the essence of Yamagata, including its food, crafts, traditional performing arts, festivals, and, of course, the finest Onsen and rich flavors. We hope you will take your time to relax and immerse yourself in the spirit of "Yamagata."

All rooms feature open-air baths, with 3 types and a total of 19 rooms. We offer a variety of room options.

Over 920 years since its opening. Enjoy the beneficial Akayu Onsen.

The season passes in an instant. Therefore, at 'Takiba,' there are no 'seasonal dishes' or 'flavors of the month.' The fresh ingredients of each day take center stage.

The main building, constructed 350 years ago, was relocated from the traditional house of the Uesugi clan's chief landowner.
