Oyama, the inner retreat of Tenryo Hita, is a scenic area blessed with the Hibiki Gorge and plum blossoms. We named this place “Okuhita Onsen” and our Ryokan “Umehibiki.” In this land where plums have been lovingly cultivated for generations, we cherish the plum blossoms and use the fruit to make umeshu (plum liqueur) and umeboshi (pickled plums). With a focus on wholesome, beautiful cuisine and spaces, we strive to be a Ryokan worthy of being called an “Onsen devoted to plums.” Like the dignified yet charming plum blossom, we stand tall as we welcome you.

  • This is my second stay.

    This was our second stay. We came back because the food last time was so delicious, and once again every dish was truly wonderful. My daughter has many allergies, but the staff carefully confirmed everything with us, so she could enjoy the meal safely and deliciously. Thank you very much. We also enjoyed the open-air bath in our Room, as well as the open-air bath and lying-down bath in the large public bath area. This time we also used the hot stone spa and bedrock sauna, and we had such a lovely time that it felt like there wasn’t enough time. We were sad to leave. We will definitely come back again.

  • An Anniversary You’ll Want to Celebrate Again

    We left the Accommodation feeling truly grateful for the thoughtful, understated gesture to celebrate our special occasion, and telling ourselves we’d work hard so we could come back again.The food in particular was outstanding—although we’ve stayed at many Ryokan, this was top-tier.
