Embrace the timeless charm of Japanese culture, landscapes, and lifestyle—escape to a satoyama villa.

Gaze upon the ridgelines adorned by the four seasons, where the mountain breeze and tranquil streams converge at "Kotonami." Embracing the traditional Japanese culture, environment, and lifestyle of yesteryears, forgotten in modern living, you can stay as if residing here. Yes, this is the hot spring retreat "Asan Kotonami" nestled in the mountain valleys of Shikoku. Crossing the bridge leading to this countryside villa, an ideal holiday surrounded by the charm of the village and the warmth of fireplaces and hearths begins...

  • We stayed here during our trip to Kagawa. The place felt like a cottage built into the mountain slope, and we enjoyed a truly out-of-the-ordinary atmosphere. Everything was wonderful—the Accommodation’s ambiance, the Facility, and the meals—and we were very satisfied. Above all, we were most impressed by how kind and attentive all the staff were. The person who explained the dishes noticed that I’m left-handed and arranged the chopsticks so they were easier for me to use, which really warmed my heart. Thank you very much—we’d love to visit again.

  • From check-in through the guidance and explanations to our Room, the attentive service at the dining area, and even the farewell after check-out, everything was wonderfully comfortable. Regarding meals, two of the four guests had requested accommodations for multiple allergies, and each time a dish was served, everything was explained carefully one by one. We were also impressed by the thoughtful attention—such as providing separate hand towels for a guest with a citrus allergy. Both dinner and breakfast featured many dishes that highlighted local seasonal ingredients, with just the right portions so we could enjoy every bite to the end. Everything was delicious, but the salt-grilled sweetfish was especially outstanding! The open-air bath also felt spacious for the number of guests (at least it seemed so), and we were able to relax while enjoying the sound of a nearby stream and fresh greenery. We also appreciated the in-Room coffee machine, complimentary drinks in the refrigerator, and even morning milk delivery—services that made it easy to unwind in our Room. Since we stayed in a detached guest room, we could spend time together as a family without worrying about noise carrying to neighboring Rooms. When we visit Kagawa again, this is an Accommodation we will definitely want to stay at—it became an unforgettable trip memory for us.

  • Make It and Eat It! Sanuki Udon-Making Experience

When it comes to Kagawa’s signature cuisine, nothing beats “Sanuki udon.”
If you’re visiting Kagawa, the classic “udon-hopping” tour is always a great choice—but why not take it a step further and make (and eat) authentic Sanuki udon in its hometown?

Featured on TV and widely popular, Nakano Udon School (Kotohira Campus) is located on Omotesando, right at the foot of Kotohira-gu Shrine—an easy stop during your Konpira pilgrimage.
Using pre-aged dough, you’ll roll it out with a rolling pin, then cut it with a knife to create your very own udon! You’ll also learn how the dough is made and even stomp to music to give the noodles their signature chewiness. In just 50 minutes from “enrollment” to “graduation,” you’ll learn the essentials of Sanuki udon-making. And then comes the best part: tasting time! Udon you’ve made yourself tastes truly special. You can also take your noodles home—perfect as a travel souvenir.
After the session, you’ll receive a graduation certificate, a secret recipe booklet, a rolling pin, and more.

For an unforgettable Sanuki trip memory, be sure to enjoy this udon-making experience in Kotohira.
