Unwind from the core at a Japanese-style Hotel rich in traditional charm at Kusatsu Onsen, the champion of eastern Japan.

A property that welcomes guests with the elegance and joy reminiscent of cherry blossoms. We strive to bring happiness to our valued guests who travel from afar to visit Kusatsu Onsen. With this sentiment, we are committed to providing warm, cheerful, and elegant hospitality.

  • I visit Kusatsu Onsen every year, and Sakurai Hotel is the best. First of all, the hot spring water is excellent. It also seems to have been renovated, and both the Room and the changing area were very clean. The hair dryer was the latest ReFa model. The food was delicious as well—especially breakfast, which left me completely full. The grilled salmon was great. I’d like to come again next year.

  • This was my first time staying at Hotel Sakurai. We stayed as a group of three, and the Room was spacious and clean. The bath area was also spotless, with a clean changing room and an Onsen. The housekeeping staff’s attention to detail was outstanding.Breakfast offered a wide variety of options and was delicious—easily one of the best among the Hotels I have stayed at.The front desk staff greeted us warmly, making our stay very pleasant.I will definitely stay here again when I visit Kusatsu.

From Monday, August 24 to Wednesday, September 23, vehicle access will be restricted due to construction work on Chuo Yubatake Street.
As it will be difficult to operate services to Yubatake, the destination will be changed to “Kusatsu Onsen Bus Terminal.”
Yubatake can be reached on foot from the bus terminal (approx. 300 m).
Shuttle Service from “Kusatsu Onsen Bus Terminal” will operate as usual; however, it may be crowded depending on the time of day.
We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your understanding.

  • [Enjoy a Highland Summer! Outdoor Pool Now Open]

Our outdoor pool, located on a 1,200 m highland plateau, opened on Saturday, July 18. This year, in anticipation of extreme heat, we have extended the operating period through Sunday, September 27. To help you relax even more comfortably, we have also extended the opening hours until 17:00. Use is free of charge for staying guests. You may also use the pool before check-in—please feel free to stop by the front desk first.

Kusatsu Onsen is known for its refreshing highland climate, but some days can feel a bit chilly. For your comfort, we mix warm water into the pool so you can enjoy your time as pleasantly as possible.
Even simply relaxing in the shade is wonderfully soothing—perfect for melting away summer fatigue.

With another very hot summer forecast this year, please take care to avoid heatstroke and enjoy a leisurely highland summer stay.

In response, Kusatsu Town has designated the area around the crater (within a 500 m radius) as a restricted zone under the Disaster Countermeasures Basic Act. Therefore:
