Hiyose Onsen Tenkazan-so
Kumamoto Prefecture/Tobise OnsenAn Accommodation set on a spacious 6,000-tsubo property. All rooms are detached and feature private baths with free-flowing natural hot spring water, with meals served in private dining rooms for a truly special stay.
Nestled in the mountains, there is only one "Tengawa Sansou." With a spacious property of approximately 6000 tsubo, this accommodation welcomes only seven groups of guests per day. Enjoy high-quality onsen, carefully selected seasonal flavors, and memorable moments with your loved ones, relaxing and unwinding in the serene Aso forest, away from the mundane world.
Even after setting the navigation system, the destination disappeared along the way. Feeling a bit uneasy, we followed the signboards and drove deeper into the mountains on narrow roads—then suddenly, there was the Accommodation entrance. The warm light that appeared in that moment was a real relief. The staff’s welcome and service were also very courteous. We headed straight to the private indoor bath in our Room. Just as I was about to soak in the retro-style tub that felt like an old hot-spring cure retreat, a large hornet—stuck and unable to get out through the window—greeted us first. We somehow dealt with it using the free-flowing natural hot spring water (quite hot). Once adjusted to just the right temperature, it felt amazing on the skin and was incredibly relaxing. When my wife took her turn, this time a rhinoceros beetle stopped by to say hello. Just as explained in advance by the Accommodation, we had a rare experience surrounded by rich nature. From the scenic open-air bath, we enjoyed views of mountains stretching out as if they were ours alone. The meals were also carefully prepared. We were able to spend a truly unhurried time here. Thank you very much.
tatecyan 7/21/2026The open-air bath is spacious! It’s also great that you can do a bit of cooking. The Room was large, and we were able to relax comfortably. We’d like to stay again.

Introduction of the Accommodation

Room
The guest rooms at Tenka Sansou, connected by a corridor from the lobby, are all detached houses. There are two types of rooms: a Japanese-style room with 10 tatami + 8 tatami and a Japanese-Western style room with 2 double beds and an 8-tatami Japanese-style room. Both are spacious with two adjoining rooms. In 2012, terraces were opened in all rooms to allow guests to experience the rich nature of Aso and Minamioguni.

At Tenka Sanso, we take pride in using delicious seasonal ingredients sourced locally. Enjoy freshly picked vegetables delivered every morning from our partner farms, our homegrown rice, and Kagoshima's premium black Wagyu beef raised in the grandeur of nature—ingredients you can only savor here.

Three private onsen baths located at the highest point of Tenka Sansou. Enjoy the magnificent nature of Aso and Minamioguni from within the baths. The private baths at Tenka Sansou do not require a Reservation. If the bath is vacant, you may use it freely as many times as you like. Take your time to relax and enjoy the natural onsen and scenic views.
