  • The food was very delicious, but unfortunately the dining service was disappointing this time.

    As always, the meals were delicious, and the Onsen was gentle on the body with a perfect temperature. It was also my first time dining in a second-floor private dining Room, and the open atrium made it easy to appreciate the main building’s traditional architecture. However, this time the meal service was a bit disappointing: tea didn’t come unless we asked for it, and the explanations of the dishes were hard to follow. I understand they may still be inexperienced, but for an Accommodation that values its cuisine, I hope more care will be taken in how guests are attended to during meals. That said, it’s still an Accommodation I would definitely like to visit again.

  • If you’re going to see the Saito Kinen Orchestra

    After enjoying great music, we recommend getting a little away from the crowded central Matsumoto in summer and relaxing in the Onsen. The food offered a wide variety of dishes, and everything was delicious. The hostess was friendly, and it was a clean, comfortable Accommodation.

Asama Onsen, the historic inner retreat of Matsumoto in Shinshu. Kikunoyu, a wooden Accommodation that preserves the traditional honmune-zukuri style. In serene Japanese-style surroundings, savor seasonal changes through kaiseki cuisine made with ingredients at their peak. Soak in the Onsen waters filling a spacious bath and enjoy a truly relaxing time.

Traditional Main-Building Accommodation

Honmune-zukuri is a traditional style of farmhouse found mainly across the Matsumoto Basin. These large homes feature a gently sloped gabled roof, and at the tip of the triangular roof sits a huge “Suzume-odori” (a decorative deterrent). Inside our property, which incorporates this distinctive Shinshu Honmune-zukuri style, you can enjoy the region’s unique character—such as thick beams crossing both lengthwise and crosswise—along with the warmth of wooden construction.
